How desirable is a Colt Trooper Mark V revolver

Range buddy has been trying to sell one for a while and says it's a very desirable/expensive gun. Anybody know how popular these actually are or how much they typically go for?
It's a mid-80s model.

Not desirable at all. Scrap metal value, maybe. Paper weight. Door stop. It’ll just take up space in your safe.
What is his name and how do I get in contact with him today?

Is this just a police model of the Python?

I'm far from a Colt authority, but my understanding is the Trooper is an affordable alternative to the Python or King Cobra

here ya go True Gun Value ... appears to be a $1200+/- pistol depending on condition and what someone is will to spend.

Was looking at these the other day. Right above $1k from what I've seen.

They are very good guns.
Like others have said, it's probably worth around $1200.
The snake guns have fallen in value the last year or so.
in '21 -'22 the were getting 3-4k and last year had fallen to around 2.5-3K.
I bought mint stainless 4" Python for $2500 last summer.

Should have prefaced by saying he has been trying to casually sell it to a bunch of range guys who don't shoot revolvers and he knows it. He's never tried to really get out from under it yet.

what is he asking for the Colt ?
$1500 it won't sell anytime soon
$800 and it would be sold in a NY second

The Triggers are terrible in the Troopers and it’s almost impossible to find a gunsmith that can tune one. They are good revolvers overall. If it’s in mint condition it’s worth $800-$859 tops. The 6” guns sell for more than the 4”. A 6” MK V in NIB condition can fetch up to $1500. Lower demand for 4” guns.

Does not compute for me.

The smoothness of the action will depend on the gun.
It looks really clean and in its factory box 1200. And don’t get rid of it

Colt started producing the Python's again. Many people that wanted one decided to spend $1200 on a new production rather than 3K on older one.

What 1971 said, and also disposable income has fallen. Almost all luxury items have fallen in value.

I have an mk iii, but the southern humidity hasn't been great for its finish. It has pitting. It's been my kitchen drawer gun for the last 15 years
my dad got it during seminary in the early 70s, I stole it for $2-300 20ish years ago. He wanted a smaller .38 revolver for his mid 50s on, so I was glad to donate to the cause.
