Heard they looking for a couple after that weather

I hope all those guys make it back safe, but if you launch a yak after seeing this mornings radar, then you’re flat out fricking retarded. This wasn’t like a cell that popped outta nowhere... it made its way across the entire state.

I launched this morning and I'm not retarded
What's retarded is not heading in at 10am when everyone knew the cell would be here around 10:45
I was back at my camp with a limit of redfish before it even rained

Just try to avoid severe weather and always wear your PFD. You’ll be ok.

Was there a weigh in? Or did they cancel after the drama?
Posted on 5/4/19 at 7:40 pm to Uncle JackD
Nope. About 12 it cleared up and was beautiful. Weigh seemed like nothing happened. I did not stay for awards. I do know the 2 guys who got brought in by cg were not fishing the tournament.

Who won the Dos Gris?
I didnt fish this PP, first time in 5 yrs. Today was typical "tournament weather". Im sure the Captains Meeting went over weather protocol for the new kayakers. We have all been through crap weather and squall lines. I usually stick close to launch, elevated LA 1, or camps when weather is bad. My first gray out condition caused me to invest in GPS.
The reports today are that kayakers got hit directly by waterspout/tornado that flipped and separated people from their kayaks.

Everyone made it back safely.
Several people turtled and lost gear; one lost his kayak and had to be rescued by coast guard after being in the water 30 min.
From what I understand, he finally found his kayak, but it took him a few hours to do so.

It was rough coming through LC bout 6:00. Called my peeps and waited in parking lot for it to pass. Rest of the day it was beautiful.

I left GI yesterday around 7 am and was amazed at the amount of yakkers on the water.

Our group launched a little late to wait out the weather. Cleared up not too long after sunrise and got 4 hours of fishing in before the bad stuff rolled in. Hunkered down at the camp for about an hour and went back out once it slacked up. Ended up fishing 6-7 hours of breezy but otherwise decent weather.
