Haven't been duck hunting in probably 4 yrs. Just doesn't make sense to me to spend a few thousand on hunting ducks that aren't there (would be in AR).

But my son got picked to hunt the TN wildlife federation youth duck hunt next weekend on reelfoot.

I don't know if we will see anything but I sure hope so. He's been with me duck hunting when he was little but never hunted them himself. I hope they are covered in them.

I never hunt the spillway or Maurepas area, but I do spend a lot of time in that swamp rabbit, squirrel, and deer hunting. And I have seen very very little in the form of ducks. I can say in August I saw tons of Whistlers in Maurepas, but never went to check in on them during the season. I spend all of my duck hunting time in the marsh south of delacroix

Headed to blind on Ok/TX border. I’ve had really good hunts everywhere I’ve been up to this point and I’ve also had really bad ones at every place. Even hunting at HF’s was tough one of the days. Went to lodge next to Lacasinne NWR, first day smoked them in less than an hour. Go to top blind next day they had rested, only grabbed my gun to load and unload. Pretty much been that way since 2nd week of season, feast or famine.

Update: I’m now up to 2 ducks in 4 hunts this year.

Haven’t really been on a good hunt, numbers wise, since 16/17. I’m jonesing pretty bad but my deer seasons have been pretty decent.

Area: All over Louisiana
Hunts: 20
Total Ducks: 52
Average: 2.6
Skunked Hunts: 5

Pretty lackluster season outside of opening weekend. One more shot this weekend. Expectations are low.

I'm not mad at my numbers this year considering I deer hunted most of the first split (5 hunts with me and my 8yo son - both killed our first deer. I got a doe then an 8pt on our 2nd hunt. He got a doe on our 5th hunt).

14 total trips (2 scout, 11 hunts in Atchafalaya Delta, 1 at a buddies lease) - 106 ducks

11/30 - scout trip - 0
12/6 - 3 redheads, 4 dogris, 6 cans (3 hunting - 13)
12/26 - 2 greys, 4 cans, 1 gwt, 3 dogris (2 hunting -12)
12/23 - 3 greys, 1 gwt, 2 cans (by myself - 6)
12/29 - 2 widgeon, 3 bwt, 4 cans, 2 geese (2 hunting - 11)
12/30 - 1 pintail, 1 can, 2 greys, 4 bwt, 2 gwt, 2 dogris (2 hunting -12)
1/3 - 1 gwt (3 hunting - 1)
1/4 - 4 bwt, 3 gwt, 4 cans, 4 dogris, 1 redhead, 1 grey, 1 spoon (3 hunting - 18)
1/5 - 3 cans (3 hunting - 3)
1/7 - 1 bwt, 1 dogris, 2 pintail, 8 gwt (2 hunting - 12)
1/10 - scout trip - 0
1/11 - 6 greys (2 hunting - lease trip - 6)
1/12 - 1 can, 3 dogris, 7 bwt, 1 gwt (2 hunting - 12)
1/19 - 0 (3 hunting - 0)

Gonna' try for some wooducks this weekend.

Maybe things will pick up. Even hunting in Oklahoma seemed to always do the best on the last weekend of the season.

I stopped hunting in Louisiana unless it was the only option I had. After moving to Georgia, and realizing that there where no birds here it made sense to spend the little money I had on places that held birds. Especially the ones I wanted to target Mallard, Pin-tail, and Wigeon.

Flamot1 no mater what that is some good hunting. I'd love to shoot that many teal. We shot a few this year. They certainly do eat the best.

If your shooting geese Specks is the ticket. Congrats on those as well.
