The system is more reliable than when they first came out. If that’s what you want get it. Possibility it will give you issues, yes. Chance isn’t that great though. I personally prefer the foot shift and I’ve owned both. Having your left hand “free” can be nice at times.

I’ve had both and rather foot shift. Frees up a hand for a cold beer.

Hard to hold a beer and shift at the same time... foot shift is way more efficient in that regard

I have electric shift and automatic. No issues with either. Dad has MS so foot shift was not an option.

I also prefer the foot shift because of the free hand thing.

While the system is better than it used to be, and it did work flawlessly in my pioneer 500, I still think that it's absofrickinglutely retarded they run it at a <4v system which invites issues.

To each his own, I don't like it.

I have the auto and electric...just pick with the turn of a switch. I grew up with a foot shite on my 86 fourtrax and figured I would use the auto occasionally but mainly use the electric shift. I currently have 300 hours on the bike now and have probably used the electric shift for 5 hours, max. AUTO is so damn nice.

To be clear guys, there is a difference between ES and DCT.

I prefer ES on my foreman but I can also use foot shift. It’s just easier for me to use ES especially when the water is over the foot pegs and you have snakes swimming by

I went with foot so it would be more difficult for my son to go faster when he was younger.

Then I believe it would be a DCT and a completely different transmission.

An ES is just a foot shift eith an electric motor doing the shifting.

A DCT is a double clutch monstrosity of oil pumps that works amazingly well until the exact moment it doesn't

I have been riding a friend's DCT foreman...or Rubicon... One of them lately while the mud flaps come in for the side by side.

I begrudgingly admit... It's a nice bike.
