Don't remember where I got this but here: Take a paper grocery bag and fill it with anything that will help it hold its shape. I used plastic bags. Tie the top of the paper bag with string and hang it anywhere near the problem area or multiples. Works for me. Been gone for two years.

What's the correct concentration? I used 1.5 oz. per gallon in my pump sprayer, and I'm not saying it didn't work, but i doused one particular spider and it took a looong time to die. I was hoping for more instaneous results.

I use the concentration per the bottle and you are correct, it does not kill bugs quickly. For instantaneous results on carpenter bees, I use a baseball bat.

Best thing is to remove all the wood. Works like a charm!

You can use a carpenter bee traps. You should check this. Also, apply a fresh coat on the exterior wood structures, which creates a good deterrent. Further, you can use appropriate insecticidal to kill the current adult population.

That works for wasps, but I still have the carpenter bees.

tennis rackets

There's your trouble. You should be using badminton rackets. They are much lighter.

Other fun ways:

.22 shotshells
Wristrockets with bbs
Propane torch
Stick
Laser
Water gun with soap/water mix (and then step on bee, just to be sure)

I'm scared to go after wasps with Dawn. Dawn will kill the shite out of stinkbugs though. Kills them in about 2 seconds.

Not much at all. I will put maybe a 1/2 cup in a 5 gallon bucket of water and pour over ants. For wasps I get a big bowl and squirt couple tablespoons of soap and throw it on the nest You can put it in a water gun or a pump sprayer also. They drop when you hit them. But I throw a bowl at once just to make sure I cover the nest and none escape
Ants you usually have to go back and get them again because they will not all be in the nest. The next day you will see tons of dead bodies on the mound that the live ants piled up. Hit them again and you will be good

Insects basically breathe out their butt through tiny holes. The soap clogs the holes and they can't breathe

I'm at war with wasp, yellow jackets and carpenter bees every year. Thinking about adding this to my arsenal:

Get Bayer suspend SC concentrate.
Spray all the holes with a sprayer and wood.
It will be scary as you will hear them buzzing around you. The only ones that bite are the females with yellow dots.
Go back the next day spray again.
Then once a month until next egg hatch season spring or fall.
Then leave the holes open until late fall or late spring and respray. Reason you have the eggs and if you cover up too soon they hatch and it is the same problem. Got kill the eggs.

Once they are gone cover up and paint.

You can get it at pest stop in BR $75.
You can go online and get it a lot cheaper if you can wait. I buy my talstar online also he at $50 and I can get it online for $35.

I bought a log cabin and were terrible at my place last year. I tried the traps. If they don't work in one location, move them around slightly. Even just moving them a few feet increased the number of bees I caught. I also read where they like to use the same holes from year to year so I bought some sevin dust and a pest pistol. Wait until night time when they are in their holes and puff the sevin dust into the holes. It will also have a residual effect for bees that use the holes in the future. I barely noticed any carpenter bees this year.
