I have nothing against helicopter hunts but they left a lot of injured critters out there to suffer.

That's the part I don't like.

I went and the pilot I was with would not leave a hog until you killed it. Some of those big gals took five or six rounds of buck shot to put down. I shot 55 rounds of 3 inch buckshot and killed around 25 hogs. If I did it again I would go with 2 3/4 inch shells. My whole arm was bruised.

And probably barely put a dent in the population.

We will be shooting AR's I believe and from the videos I've watched it looks like they make sure they are dead before moving on.

They had a helicopter lined up for us last year in San Saba if we wanted, but it was $375/person plus shells for 1 hour. It was a little steep for my cheap arse.

That's actually pretty cheap. It seems like most places want at least 1K per person per hour. What was the name of the outfit?

I thought it was around 600 an hour. Seems like prices are all over.

Same thing i was thinking. I’d go at that price and would damn sure go atbthe free price.

Dontbthey usually have folks hanging back in SxSs going pick up the dead and cleaning up and injured ones?

Some of the guys had rifles like that. They had to put downward reflecting shields on them so the casings would not fly up into the chopper blades. At least that was my understanding.

I know a guy that died when their helicopter crashed. Have fun!

They usually fly Robinson R44 helicopters which
Since 1999 there have been,

5805 manufactured
291 crashes
512 deaths

In general aviation this would be called a poor safety record.

It has a fuel tank design issue that results in what would have been a survivable crash landing turning into fireball.

To kill 100 I bet you'd go through at least 500 rounds. It almost seems like they'd be easier to hit using iron sights instead of a scope. Based on the videos I've seen the helo is often right up their asses - like 50' high and 50' or 75' back. I'm sure there are longer shots as well. But short, long, scope or not ... it looks like a blast!
