I apologize for the novice question, but I haven’t really hunted since high school and don’t remember much about it. My buddy invited me and my family down to his farm for a dove hunt opening weekend in southeast MS and I’m sure my Granddaddy’s old Remington 1100 needs a good greasing. Is Lucas gun oil my best bet? I’m sure there are directions on the can/bottle.

I thought Kroil was a penetrating oil.

You can do better that Lucus . Pretty sure an 1100 has O rings . They likely still good, maybe.

You’ll get 100 answers. I have what I like, too. It doesn’t matter. Just use something, correctly.

I like Lucas extreme duty to put in moving parts like slide to frame and bolts.

Buy a qt of auto trans fluid. My granddaddy was a gunsmith. Type F was his only gun oil.

My shotguns get clp. My rifles get a combo of a copper solvent and a regular bore cleaner. However, I was told to mix 80/20 copper solvent and kroil and run it through the barrel and let sit for 20 minutes and then run a brush through it. That should remove all fouling from the barrel.
I like the bore snakes too for my shotguns.

I use frog lube after watching a YouTube video showing it performed as one of the top three at preventing corrosion, hornady one shot was the winner.
As for the greasing if you don’t know what you’re doing you can make things worse by putting a ton of oil that’s going to gum up with dust and carbon.

Lubriplate FMO-350-AW, or a suitable industrial direct replacement. I picked some up over a decade ago, it's the best stuff I've used.

I keep it simple.

Mobile 1, lithium grease and Ed's Red for cleaning.

For years I only used WD 40.

You situation is different though. That “Gun scrubber” is legit if you need to clean it before coming back with a quality oil.

Cut it with some acetone for penetrating ability.

The old Ed’s Red formula.

I've always used 10w30 and never had issues. It's a detergent and lubricant all in one and it doesn't break down in high heat.
