Id like to say I confidence in this passing, but in reality I have no faith in our politicians.

I really hate that several issues get lumped into one bill. I get why, but still.

get ready to register your suppressors, SBRs, SBSs, and AOWs without the tax stamp...

Honestly this may have made things worse for suppressors and SBRs in the long run. Because Rs tried to run this through reconciliation it’s now very much on the radar of Congressional Democrats. The next time they control Congress they’ll use the same process to raise the tax to $10,000 or more per device.

Called it, and watch: the limp wristed Republicans aren't going to do shite about it. Law abiding, tax paying, freedom loving Americans have no representation in Washington, only difference between Republicans and Democrats is the letter behind their name when on TV. @$%& them all.

as predicted.... the BBB was reworded to basically say $0 on suppressors, SBRs, SBSs, and AOWs.

registration is still required.

call it an ugly win until the democrats want to change it at the next opportunity.

Stupid question. Why don't feckless Republicans just write a bill taking suppressors, SBR and SBS out of the NFA and be done with it? Wouldn't that require just a simple majority? TIA.

It would require 60 votes based on the Senate’s rules, unless they invoked the “nuclear option”. Reconciliation was the best bet because it requires a simple majority. The issue is the Democrat in charge of determining what qualifies under the budget reconciliation process was never going to let this happen.

There are people saying that if the tax is $0, the registration is technically “illegal” and they’ll go after that in court.

It is foolish to not have a tax, yet require you to register a suppressor.

Guns and Gadgets said that there might be another reconciliation bill next year, and Thune might let this pass, then fire the parliamentarian, hire a new one, and get the registration removed in 2026.
