Found him still alive. Ended up cutting a little of the net to free him. Set him back free in the pond to keep the bad ones away.

Drain the pond, and burn the boat dock. Final answer.

I was so excited when I saw him I didn't have to run and get the shovel.

Fixed the 2nd picture

Got a couple that live around my pond and house. Also a shite load of grass snakes. Now those little shits still make me jump a little when I step out the back door on to the patio. They always come across there.

Need a sign like they have for a deer crossing.

To the OP: good job giving the extra effort to release that beautiful contributor to a safe environment.

Had as pets about 50 years ago, we called them salt & pepper kings, but I think the correct is speckled king.

Yeah we called them salt and pepper king snakes. Had one as a pet in high school. Didn't keep it long once I realized what they actually ate since my mom found a copperhead one day chilling next to the garden hose one afternoon. Also saw two king snakes one time all wrapped up in what appeared to be love making in the woods next to my school.

I had a speckled king that took up residence at my place a couple years ago. It was a cocky little fellow - I saw it several times and it never made any effort to get away from me. It was on my deck one morning and the neighbor's cat was watching it from on top of the railing. That was the last time I saw it.

A golf club? Lol

Were you afraid to touch him and hold him? They are as gentle as can be

I hope he able to get and eat that green spotted GDCK in the bottom right background of the 2nd pic before it could harm the kids!
