KR you said you cook it like steak, can you cook it medium or does it need to be well done? I might try this tomorrow night

Sunday night I grilled some backstrap to a nice medium. My 4 yr old tore that shite up.
And Rebber, I'm with you. The hell with antlers, I like shooting me some does.

I don't understand why people fry backstraps.
Because it tastes damn good and it's quick and easy. That's why.
And that's the way rednecks and coonasses have done it for generations.

add a little mustard to that wash and it will really set it off

You know whats better than mustard, dry mustard. Has a kick to it.

I like both. Fried is wonderful, but I always make a buttermilk gravy and smother the hunks down in the gravy.
I grill them like a steak too. Olive oil, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Somethimes a little cane syrup glaze or brown sugar on them.
No wrong way to cook a backstrap!

We tenderize ours with an old school glass coke bottle. It always comes out perfect.

Nothing like some backstrap cut 3/4 inch and rap in bacon.

That looks tasty.
I go for a doe first chance I get, and some meat. Once I've done that, I hunt for trophy. I only go through 2 deer a year in meat, so I'm fairly picky after I get the doe, unless someone is wanting some meat that I know.
