Probably will give it a go Saturday night. Wind direction and tide look right. Bought a nice light two summers back and need to break it out more often

Going to verret to chase spawning cats and bream. Just ordered the Humminbird helix 5 so I’m excited to try that out

Going chase some fish somewhere in the basin. Going with a podnah. Don’t really know what he has planned. I guess I’ll bring both bass and bream gear.

ETA: ok, he said we are going to Calumet all the way down to the Atchafalaya Delta. Guess I should bring some redfish gear too..

Catfish will be on the trees on the outskirts of the main lake

Should be easy to catch

for a mixed bag of bream (chinqs, goggle, bluegill) I suggest nightcrawlers in the bayous and canals off the lake around structure.

If you dont want to throw nightcrawlers, a black and chartreuse bottom bumper is by best lure for bream

Blue and white tube jig for sacs

Ill be on the southside of the lake around cheramie fishing for bass

I’m the exact opposite, even when targeting catfish in the trees at Verret I find crickets out produce worms

I’m gonna have to give them both a try this sunday. I’ll be on the south side of the lake too, picking cats off the trees

Good luck, should do well. We avoided the lake today to try to stay away from the crowds. Ended up with 16 cats and 37 nice bream

Thinking about going early and soak some shrimp in Lake Boudreaux and try to load up on puppy drum. Then as the day gets warmer burn dat gold spoon over the grass for some reds.

Just got home from Chandeleur and Freemason. Beautiful day. Didn’t catch shite. Probably should be there now. Tide started falling at 3:00 when we had to start heading home.

Good question. I only saw 2 fish actually caught. And I think they were Spanish Mack because the group went back to their boat and made lunch almost immediately after. 4 guys at another spot had 1 nice trout and 1 red. They had been fishing since dawn and that was about 9:45am.

I hooked something toothy. Big run and snap at the hook. Caught a hardhead. Dude I was with caught a 8” spec. Couple light strikes.

High tide was about 1:30pm. Water was murky but not terrible. Most of the people I talked to this week said it’s slow during the day due to the full moon. As I was leaving at 3pm a few skiffs were filtering back. My guess was to hit the falling tide into the evening.

That's how it goes with island fishing (Freemason, Chandy, Breton, Gosier, Curlew, etc..) very much boom or bust. However it's usually an enjoyable day either way. See big tarpon rollin every now and then out there which is a fun deal.
