Just came over channel 16, Coast Guard said person has been found. No other info.

He was a good guy. Hard worker and served our Country.

Prayers for his family.
If it matters...
the lake is a pretty constant 4' deep all the way across, with a ditch dredged most/all of the way around it that runs 6-7' deep, about 25' from the shore. I doubt it's a hard bottom at 4' though.
A hand full of little rigs scattered throughout.
When it's foggy, it's like pea soup and difficult to see the bow of your boat. Extremely dangerous.
Surface temp down there this weekend was 63 degrees.
Many things could've happened to the gentleman. At least he left us doing what he enjoyed.

Was down there Saturday morning and the lake was rough!
Sorry to hear this.

RIP to the guy. That's rough. As someone who has only fished saltwater, what kind of boating accidents can happen on a lake?

Not that it matters, but it is a salt water lake. We fished there alot growing up, but rarely ever fished Decade. Run through Decade to Little Deuce, through Mechant and Sister Lake and run to Racoon Point. Good times, but it was a hell of a haul from Falgoust canal to the point.
The lake is wide and shallow. Provides no wind protection, so when the wind kicks up, the lake gets rough.
Prayers to the family.

Crazy thing is that another fisherman saw him fishing, then turned his head and then looked back at him and he was gone. I am not sure how much time elapsed between that, but I assumed that Mr. Gary was in the same spot fishing....so it's not like he fell out the boat while moving.

could have just slipped and fell out the boat. Getting back in a boat from the water without a ladder or someone helping is tough.

very sad....Deacon, do you know if Gary was related to Mr Elliot Crochet?

Heart attack
Posted on 11/19/15 at 2:19 pm to Art Vandelay
That's my thought too.

From his daughter's FB
quote:
We got some more closure today. It was determined he had a massive heart attack, and was gone before he hit the water. Zero water in his lungs and he most likely didn't suffer much.

Same way my Nonc Skip went out. Running after deer dogs in the swamp, he either hit something or fell out the boat and his boat hit something. Either way according to the Autopsy he didn't have water in his lungs. He did go out doing what he loved. We never know when its our time, God speed to his family and friends.
