Thanks guys. It's threads like this that keep me coming back to the OB. Had to put down my dog today. Really hard time for me and my family. Have a 4 yo daughter and 11 month old son. Looking forward to all the good times amongst all the hardships that we've had to endure over the past year.
Love you Fender...

Saddest fact: no matter what, one day you put your boy down and never pick him up again.

Experienced this 2 years ago my friend. PBS was playing John curtis for state championship in BB. PBS lost and as soon as that game was over that reality of chapter closing was magnified. Good news is that the next chapter has been pretty sweet. Good luck and enjoy this day!
Excellent advice for OB brothers with young ones btw.

When your HS Senior has been active and involved, the senior year as a bitter sweet trip down memory lane for the parent. The kids you've helped coach over the years are playing their last ball game.
The kid who followed you through the woods now wants to hunt and fish with his friends.
Last year, my senior left to work in Idaho for the summer three days after graduation. It makes you proud to have raised one that can stand on their own, but also a bit empty to see them go.

I've driven my daughter to school every morning since kindergarten and my phone never rings because everyone knows that is my private time with her and we have had some wonderful conversations.
I have 2 weeks left to do that as she will drive next year. That's a bummer.
But she has caught a hundred bream and thirty catfish in the last week so I'll still get some quality time with her.

We have a 10U game at 11 am, fun times.
I'll hate it when these times are over

Make bucket lists give those kids the best childhood you possibly can. Travel with them, be there for all their games, spend quality time with them instead of alone time. Money can't replace time, you'll regret not being there more for kids than you'll ever regret anything else.

Just follow my lead. I have a 21 yr old son, 11 yr old daughter and 7 month old twin boys. I keep spacing them out every 10 years so I can have someone do the yard work.
Let us know how much yard work you get out of your daughter. My two precious girls never took an interest in it !!!!!!!!!

I'm 32 and we just had our first kid (boy) 10 weeks ago. I'm lovjng every minute of it but can't believe how quickly the first 3 months have gone by. Can't wait to take him on his first hunting/fishing trip

When they are young, you can't wait for them to get older to do stuff, enjoy every moment, it passes way too fast. I have an 11 year old boy and a 5 year old girl. I remember sushi's kid riding on his shoulds for a field trial years ago, like I said that past way too fast...

Looking back on this weekend where the prep career came to an early close. Can't help but be very proud of the young man wife and I raised(with some timely help and input from a couple of posters and lurkers)
. Handled pitching a complete game shut out in game 1 with class and dignity and then handled a heartbreaking end in games 2 and 3 on Saturday.
Late Saturday night I asked him what upset him the most about the end. He responded instantly "I hurt for the guys on the team, that still want to play and won't get to play again"...
any doubt I may have ever had about what kind of parents wife and I were - went right out the window.

The tough thing about HS sports is that the seniors careers are over just as they were reaching the peak of their career and ability.
