Fed up with public hunting land: Where has sportsmanship gone?

This morning several public fields were targeted by weagle & co for crow hunting. We get to Field #1 early and as we are getting out of the truck another vehicle quickly pulls in beside us and 2 dudes get out.
Dudes: 'What are you guys about to do?'
weagle: 'Crow hunt'
Dudes: 'Yeah? Us too. We are going in to these pines. Want to hunt with us?'
Dudes then throw their stuff on and almost jog into the property.
Crow hunting is a one time deal for a given piece of property. Once it is shot, it is over for the day basically.
We left and went somewhere else.
My point: On public land you have zero recourse, and seemingly have to deal with a steady stream of jacklegs. Honestly had we already been in there those same shitheads would have probably come in on us. The sportsmanlike thing to have done was for the second group to recognize 'dibs' and either move to another piece of property or ask to join the first group, IMO.
There seem to be alot of people who hunt, but very few sportsmen and they seem to congregate on public land. I mostly duck hunt public waters and was planning on shooting doves during 2nd season on a few public fields. BS like this morning has soured me on both at the moment.

Yeah, private is really the only way to go.
Just a shame that so many people don't act with some level of consideration when outdoors.

Get a lease man.
Just had the owner and salesman of the company I work for walk in my office. Said people are already at The Wax camping out in their boats for spots, for the youth hunt this weekend. Don't know how true or if he was exaggerating but that sounds crazy.

Two independent groups crow hunting on the same day within sight of each other? I'd have believed a black panther sighting more easily.

It is if you have the money.

Im with you brother.
Public land hunting could be much smoother if "those other guys" would just be realistic, use a trace amount of common sense and have a plan B.
I hunted public for the first time in about 9 years this teal season with a few other OBers. The level of stupidity shown by a few other hunters that we encountered was off the fricking charts.
I got to experience that feel of "stealing someone's spot", even though they showed up 20 minutes before shooting hours began.

even then, any good lease openings will be filled first by family or friends of the current members

Or put years of work into it.
Two leases I'm apart of have been hunted by my family since the 90's (deer lease) and 70's (duck lease)...maybe even longer.

Looking forward to your rant when you lease a piece of property and have trespassers if this upsets you so

LOL......Attacking a Sasquatch riding a unicorn. I have never known anyone that crow hunts much less 2 groups on the same day at the same time.

What part of the state are you in? We have thousands of crows at our lease.

Thanks but I'm not in Louisiana.
I am mainly a small game hunter / bird hunter these days. Probably will supplement next year by approaching some deer clubs for small game rights or a small game only membership.
