I think there are different levels of peroxide. I remember when I did mine I went to a beauty store and got some paste or some shite. It’s been an along time so I can’t recall.

This. Try not to get it on the antler, itll bleach it bone white. If you get some splatter on it touch it up with brown shoe polish.

I soak in a small tub of 40% peroxide (liquid not cream) and water for around 30 mins. It fizzes off all the bits the pressure washer didn’t catch and bleaches the skull. It’ll look yellow when it’s wet but after a while in the sun, it’ll turn white. If that’s not white enough, use some matte white primer spray paint.

Be safe as 40% can cause chemical burns if you get it on your skin. Wear nitrile gloves and safety glasses when handling it.

First, make sure you've degreased the bone. This is what causes the yellowing. Then use the 40% peroxide. After the peroxide, letting it dry in direct sunlight really lets it whiten well.

It is. Your skull will become a crumbly mess.

Liquid or paste? What percentage? How long did you apply it?

The best way for me has been to clean and degrease (simmering in water with dawn detergent while getting the meat off of it with pocket knife and surgical instruments) and then submerge it in 3% peroxide liquid for about 2-4 weeks.

For a bear or hog, soak it in gasoline for a couple weeks as an extra degreasing step before going to the peroxide.

40 volume peroxide from hair products store ...mix with baking soda and water to make a wet paste. USE GLOVES. apply paste let set in the sun(heat intensifies reaction) 30-1 hr. rinse clean and apply a second time to spots needed if necessary. rinse good when finished and you're done.

Degrease it for a couple weeks in a dawn/ammonia/water solution with an aquarium heater to keep the water at a medium temp. This will pull the grease out of the head that turns it yellow. Then go to Sally Beauty Supply and buy some 40 volume peroxide and Clairol Basic White. Mix them per the instructions, and paint it on the skull. I usually wrap the antlers with something so i don't get it on there or else itll bleach that too. After you paint it on the skull, I wrap it with some saran wrap...Put it in the sun for a few hours or the whole day, then rinse it off. If its not white enough, do it again. Should get you where you want to be.

A buddy put me on this method and it works well if not in a hurry. Skin the skull and remove as much meat as you can. Place in a garbage can half full of water. Tie up to keep the horns above the water. Takes about three months and a couple of changes of water. Spray off with a hose to finish cleaning it up and let it air dry. This method helps retain some of the fine bones that you lose with boiling or pressure washing. Skull retains its natural bone color.
