No reason Texas duck season and Arkansas/Oklahoma should end on similar dates. In fact Arkansas gets 2 extra days at the end of January.

Always a cold spell in February that pushes birds down

I wish the arkansas season was shifted two weeks later. The number of birds we had last weekend and early this week was stupid.

Now the ice storm has shifted a ton of birds but I have a feeling we will be covered again early next week.

Amen. Blast through 3/1 at least. But good luck, the duck nerds will never allow this.

I just wish they’d let us shoot black bellied whistling ducks during September teal season. As far as regular duck season dates, doesn’t matter where I hunt due to lack of migration numbers.

Or we could just get rid of the nets and wells up north that hold the ducks and keep the sanctuaries thawed out year round

State’s set their own season. Federal government gives each state so many days to hunt federal waterfowl states set their season based on the allotment of days. Call your state reps to change the season

Context clues, baw.

He's talking about going into February. The federal framework doesn't allow that.

I’ve been saying for awhile now that it should start mid December in Louisiana and run thru mid February

Everyone wants a longer season but is everyone gonna be ok once we have even fewer ducks. Once ducks get paired up down here, it would be highly detrimental to the duck population to allow them to be hunted until they return north.

Ask the guys in Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkansas that hunt every day possible to kill enough ducks for an instagram picture to sell the latest jacket and wader. It’s a business now

Same applies to changing federal law. Change state rep to congressman

Yeah, good luck with that. There's nothing for a congressman to gain by trying to change that law.

And, as has already been stated, moving the season dates back would do more harm than good. There's a reason the federal frame work shuts it down by the end of January.

Agree it needs to be flexible based upon actual duck patterns
