Hunted hopedale also. Worst opener we’ve ever had, we had 3 boats hunting and killed only a few Hoodys.

Saw maybe 75 ducks in the early morning, mostly greys and they were higher than snoop dogg.

After our hunt I drove the long way back to the camp and covered about 10 miles of
marsh, jumped less than 10 birds

Talked to almost every boat that passed in he Bayou and one or two reported ok hunts, the rest were 2 ducks or less

Hunted Venice and was done both mornings by 6:30-7. Was one of those unbelievable Venice days.

All greys and widgeon.

My Paran hunted our lease in hopedale not too great think he shot four.

It’s crazy to think our landowner will be raising prices 4x high next year. Granted it was undervalued for years. Had this same lease since 2002. Peaked in 2012 hasn’t been the same since.

Best opener in Venice I’ve had in the past couple of years. 2 days 3 man limits each day nothing but grey’s, pintail, and widgeon. Hunted this afternoon with the youngster when the front rolled thru and it looked like the glory days of LA duck hunting ducks and geese rolling thru by the 1000’s all looking to get down.

No really I concur on the Venice hunt.

I’ll post a video of the greys as we were heading out the lease.

shite $8/acre isn’t that bad. Just couldn’t swallow $20-30. I’m nervous about what this guys is going to try and hit us with. Actualy my Paran rolled up on someone that had lease papers for our same ponds from the same guy. The guy is getting old and sickly and his grandson is taking over so I’m inclined to go with it was an honest mistake but the grandson Is apparently going to be changing it up next year.

I would say I hope you enjoyed it because they'll all be gone by next weekend, but since you have a lease there's some hope. Public land in Venice is a disaster with all of the people.

Same here. Hate to hear the leases are going up, but the map he uses is comically old and outdated so I'm not surprised. Based on recent seasons the lease really may not be worth a whole lot more than what we pay

Do you know the Jacksons? we may know each other

Fared decent in Pecan Island. Saw a bunch of flight birds, but not many wanted to get down in our holes. There is still water everywhere from storms. We could use about 6-12" less water.

Saturday: 1 blind killed a 2 man limit but picked up 9 (alligators). Second blind killed 14 and picked up 10 (tax man)

Sunday: 1 blind picked up 7. second blind picked up 8.

Mix of pintail, spoons, teal, mottleds and greys

Just wanted to brag on myself for knocking down two gaddies (drake and hen) with one shot on Sunday. All four of the other guys in the blind just sat there twiddling thumbs and never shot at them. More than made up for my mostly shitty shooting otherwise. There are many more big ducks than we had in NWLA this time of year.

We hunted three blinds opening day, south of Delacroix.

One blind - 1 grey, 1 wigeon, 2 GWT, 1 Dos Gris
Blind two - 2 redheads, 2 gwt, 1 pin,4 greys, 4dos gris
Blind three - two man limit of wigeon, greys, and pins

They hunted Sunday and I did not, but they only shot a total of ten ducks between two blinds.

17 teal and 1 mottled duck on Saturday. It took us until 8:30 and we mostly shot fly bys. No wind made it difficult but still fun scratching out a limit.
