Seeing more than usual this summer in Pointe Coupee parish. We should have one hell of a shoot opening day if we don’t get a front before the opener.

I feel like we get several inches of rain right before the open every year in South Texas and it kills the flow of the birds. They will be everywhere then poof.

A few years ago we had 200-300 hitting a field daily, we were fired up for opening day.
The afternoon and night before the opener a cool front came through and every bird left

We hunted at Hondo, TX outside of San Antonio last year and did very well.

I’m seeing more than I did last year at this time in TX panhandle. And I’m hearing the same from others in the area. There’s a frick ton NE of us in KS. I was speaking with a buddy about the birds in LA vs here and how the birds move. They really don’t bail until we get a good cold front and then it’s only a week at most that they are replaced by the migrators.

Saw quite a few more this afternoon. Plenty of doves too. Must be this cool front, wind has shifted out the N and it only got to 98 today.

I'm cautiously optimistic here in Central TX- hate a weekday opener though. I'm a FB coach- won't get to hunt until the weekend when everybody's already been blasting for 4-5 days.

Town is covered up with them, a lot of white wings too. We don’t kill many of them in the field.

Knowing that, I guess he is hunting the opener? I wonder if he is booked? I am picking up a gun at Simmons on that Saturday since it is tax free weekend and breaking it in on doves would be fun.
