Great minds (small minds?) think alike I see hahaha. Yeah I guess our French Bulldog is compensating for what exactly? I guess ur childish dick comments are compensating for both of ur lack of intellect then? Either that or its just ur default knee jerk comeback. If you must know...I travel for work...my dogs protect my family and home when I am gone. I can send u the address if you wanna sneak up on them and test their "uselessness."

I don't know why you would risk a dog to rid yourself of a raccoon. They can be asymptomatic carriers of rabies so if one gets gutted pretty good you can be exposed too. Also distemper is common too. Not to mention every intestinal parasite too

They like it...its a game to them and they have yet to be injured. The skin on their face and necks is super thick and tough. I love them but I don't try to be overly protective. Its like not letting ur kid play football because they might get hurt.

A large male coin will fight a lot of dogs to a standstill.

Get yourself a bb gun and light that bastard up.

Or trap him.

Or get a dog that can handle it.

If u have a kangal thats awesome...they are cool dogs. Its not a competition but if u think a boerboel is a lapdog then u really are misinformed and sadly mistaken. A full grown male boerboel is an impressive animal.

As the the dumbass comment...you know what they say about opinions right? Perhaps you are the dumbass. I don't know what to tell you all but I grew up with red bone hounds, walkers and pretty much every dog that are used to hunt deer and can think of multiple times when they got into it with coons and nutria and I never once saw a coon get over on any of them. Bloodied up sure but the coon always ended up dead. Perhaps there are some mutant monster coons that are a little tougher but it would be the exception. I have seen a hound grab a big arse coon that was all wound up and pissed off... by the back...snap its spine and shake it for a few seconds...dead.

I knew a guy that was a breeder of boerboels and it was like half those dogs at least absolutely would not breed. They would mount other males constantly though. Was funny as hell because he'd send in this randy black shnauzer to get the females all fired up in the hope that the super swole male he was trying to get some puppies out of might actually cop a boner and stick it where it's supposed to go so he could get some idiot to buy another one of those things at a ridiculous price but it only worked like once in three times.

He finally decided he couldn't keep up the pace of buying three males to get one of them to finally stop banging his bros and get a litter out of it.

So they remain rare.

If you've never seen a coon or nutria whoop a dog, you haven't been in the woods with dogs much.

I think what Downshift is saying is that if the raccoons were homophobes that didn't appreciate a bro boerboel suggestion for a mutual licking session, they could be a problem considering the proximity of the dog's junk at the start of the fight.

This is a much more uplifting thread than the one about the water on Bluff Road.

(and yes, I'm on Bluff Road)

I have a 20 pound Jack Russell that will go toe to toe with the best coon any day. He's proved it multiple times. He does come out with a few scars.

There was almost a drowning the time I saw a good German shepherd try to take on a coon in the water. The shepherd looked like Davey Crockett wearing a coon skin hat. Score is coon 1 and shepherd 0.

The only time I ever saw a coon wipe a dog was in deep water. Killed the dog before could get to him. I used to coon hunt dogs many of nights from redbones to walkers and blueticks.

My take, a 60 lb dog on dry land will take out a coon. Yes, there is a chance the dog will get a cut/bite, but it will learn from the fight what not to do next time.

I live in the country an there is nothing that comes in my yard without a fight if the dogs are outside. They fought coons, pigs dillers and coyotes. Haven't lost a battle yet.

I just can't believe some of these posting. Dam candy arse at that. Dogs have a battle instinct.

Not a single cut on my dogs. Not their fist time dealing with a coon.

You want to see a fight? A dog vs an otter.

Otters are the fricking honey badgers of louisiana.

I watch a decent sized male fight our Rottweiler to a standstill when I was young. That same dog lost a toe to an 5ft alligator crossing a road one day and proceeded to shake that gator like a squirrel.

Otters are brawlers.

Also...just kidding about the boerbel. I like them, I just can't afford them.

Dog will usually be ok against a coon. They may get bitten and scratched but no huge deal.

Only time a coon is a real danger to a dog is in the water. They will lure a dog out into the water then turn around and stand on its head and drown it.
