why are you people so scared of hogs?

Haven't you read the OB???? 99.43% of all hogs weigh over 300 lbs and they are known to enter the homes and murder people in their sleep.

If and when I finally get around to buying my first handgun, I'll probably carry it with me in some outdoor situations. But, I live in Alabama. There's no wild animal in the woods that I'm worried about. I'm more worried about shady characters.

I'm pretty much armed any time I'm not in my house. Just like to keep a sidearm on me. Never know when you might need it.

I'm actually considering getting something to carry while I do some land clearing. Our lot backs up to a swamp, I just know come summer that thing will be chock full of moccasins. I'm trying to decide between the ruger sr22 and just a strong air pistol. The loudness will be the factor. While I should be ok shooting a 22 occasionally, I don't know how people will take to a few successive shots. Neighbors aren't very close but who knows.

nope, unless i am specifically going to shoot the gun. no gun needed while hiking, biking, scouting, etc. Sometimes i forget that 90% of the OB is scared to death of snakes and other small harmless critters.

Never understood the snake thing, if someone is able to successfully shoot and kill a snake it was never a threat.

MEH

I ain't scared but this spring I shot a WM that had already struck my snake boot. When he struck he was definitely a threat. Just before I shot him he was no longer a threat but that bastard had to learn a lesson.

I carry a gun because of this.

It's more about that this is my property and I'm trying to eradicate as many as possible for that one time that I or my son doesn't notice the snake.

This is only for venomous snakes. I will gladly leave any non-venomous alone. I just tossed a black racer aside a few days ago with a stick.

I have one of the Mossbergs and love it. I have shot probably 500 rounds thru it and it has yet to jam. And that was a lot of shooting as fast as I could to see if it would jam . Two issues I have: the stock mag was hard to get 25 rounds into it after a couple had gone easily. I did find extra mags at Simmons in Bastrop but I couldn't order from mossberg. They run pretty well but haven't yet hit the numbers as the original. The other issue happened about 2 weeks ago: we were shooting and after one mag , I went to put another in and the charging handle had broken off. Did not hit it or drop it or anything . It just brok off at the bolt. Went to Academy and they sent it back to mossberg. I don't know if this has happened to anyone else.

I have no idea why this is here. I thought I answered someone in a mossberg Ar 22 thread . Not sure how that happened.
