The paper ones now will be susceptible to blood and water making them fall apart, fade, disinigrate, and/or blow off during transport.

So how are you guys going to attach them this season with the plain printed paper?

put tag in a ziploc with a golfball. put in bunghole if you haven't gutted yet.

ETA: if enough game wardens have to fish tag bags out of deer butts maybe they'll go back to the better paper

Not looking to make an enemy of the local wardens during a stop. You watch Louisiana Law yet? I live in warden Tarver's district #1.

Last time this topic came up someone suggested putting the tag in a ziplock back and ziptieing to antler/ear and (this is the important part) taking a picture on your phone of the tagged deer.

I think this is pretty good advice. A warden would have a tough time giving you a ticket if for some reason the tag falls off and you have done this.

They need to do away with tags and do online checkin through an app like arkansas (as long as deer is in your possession, you dont need a paper tag). If no service, a paper tag will suffice.

As for OP question, you could do as suggested above with ziploc bag. Or print out tags, cut up, and get laminated and hole punch for a ziptie.

what you think is gonna happen to that little strip of paper when the deer is in the back of your truck doing 80mph on the interstate on the way home?

Staying on topic - Yes, for backpack transport, i will just put the page in a plastic zip bag that some of my archery gear came in, and that in my pack.

For the deer, i will use those clear badges that groups use at conventions ( My name is ...)

Electric tape the tag around leg or antler. It doesn’t come off if you wrap it well

If you have no service, you can still tag the deer on the app and when you get service, it will upload.

Wish we would go back to check stations. The app is quicker but I always enjoyed going to the gas stations and seeing the deer people were bringing in.

I keep a piece of clear packing tape wrapped around a pen in my bag, as well as small zip ties. I report it on my phone, fill out the tag and fold the tape over it, essentially laminating it, then zip it to a main beam or leg.

Do we print tags online now? I searched the LDWF site and couldn't find where to print them.
