Very nice! What area are you in? The family and I will be in Hungry Horse the first week of August. Cannot wait.

All that I learned in this thread is that even in BFE Montana, a teenage girl will still NOT ever put her phone down

Who does she need to call? I know she don’t have reception up there... gotta get that snapchat pic

Stayed at Flathead Lake over the weekend. Was planning on attending the Cherry Festival. But they cancelled the festival. And on top of that the cherries are late this year and the harvest hasn't even started. I was planning on taking the kids to some u-pick cherry orchards. But that's scrapped. You'll hit the cherry harvest perfect this year if you come first of August.

We left Flathead and had breakfast at the Jam and Pie Factory in Hungry Horse. Solid.

Glacier was a disaster. The coolest hike in the Park is the Avalanche Lake. But we got there at 8:30 am and the trail head was already full. No parking. Plus, they don't allow trailers or RVs onto the Going To The Sun Road past Avalanche Lake. So we had to turn around. Pretty much wasted half a day on that.

We are now at a friend's ranch in Trout Creek MT where we are fishing and hanging out for a couple of days.

You'll have a blast.

If there is a place in the world that is prettier than Glacier, I'd love to see it.

Absolutely amazing.

And I understand why they don't allow trailers on Going to the Sun Road. Lots of hairpin turns with very little barrier (16-18" tall rock barrier)

Totally worth it to not have South Louisiana summers and have mountains and big sky. I can buy some firewood, furnace oil, etc. and find a cute chubby girl to keep me warm during the long winter.

What time did you arrive at the West entrance and how long did it take to get in if you don’t mind me asking?

I agree summers are great. But snow from October to May would probably get old.

We left Polson at 6:15 am and got to the Glacier entrance at 8:15 am (stopped for breakfast at Hungry Horse). When we pulled into the gate I asked the Ranger about Avalanche Lake trail head (Cedars Trail I believe). And she said the parking lot was always full by 8 am. And sure enough when we got there it was full.

Getting into the gate at that hour was nothing. Took maybe 5 mins in line. My buddy pushed ahead in his Jeep. Spent most of the day on the road going all the way to the top and back. When he got back to the Avalanche Lake trailhead about 3 pm he was able to wait there about 15 mins and get a parking spot. So he did the hike from there and said it was phenomenal.

That's about all I've got for Glacier.
