Okay...
The one they said was an escaped pet? Oh yeah...
Way to go Bossier Police Dept. kill our first wild one in NWLA trying to establish itself. I doubt they got fined, but I know I would.
Also, great article about a picture, that doesn't include the picture. Keep up the good work LAsportsman.
Anybody got a copy of the pic in question?

A Morehouse Parish trail cam picture authenticated by biologists with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is the state’s first confirmed cougar sighting since 2011.

Penalties for killing a cougar in Louisiana may include up to one year in jail and/or a $100,000 fine, the release states.

A cougar was shot and killed in a neighborhood by the Bossier City Police Department on Nov. 30, 2008.

The DNA from that cougar confirmed it originated from a New Mexico population, the release states. Sightings of cougars in Louisiana are likely animals dispersing from existing populations, according to the LDWF release. An expanding population in Texas can produce dispersing individual cougars that move into suitable habitat in Louisiana. Young males are known to disperse from their birthplace and travel hundreds of mile to seek their own territories.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather cougars not establish themselves 100 miles from my home.

That doesn't look favorable for that hunter man. Prayers.

And exactly why do we want cougars to get established here?

Other hunters and drunk drivers at O dark thirty scare me way more than a cougar in the woods

Clyde, bro. Where is the quote you missed? You know about not being ABLE to be black....

Wonder what part of MP that is? I was there yesterday putting out a trail cam.

Yeah, screw a cougar in LA. Bullet in the boiler room. Thin wire, couple cinder blocks and let the gators and crabs do the rest.
Then $100,000 later I'm regretting the Hoffa style killing.

Don't be that guy. It was done after contacting LDWLF and with their authorization

I've been stalked by a cougar in the NM mountains outside of Red River. We were following a trail for a few miles before someone noticed a cougar above us along the ridge. He would mimic our movement. We would move forward and so would he. Move backwards and so would he. We think he was focused on my friend's ten year old son. He followed closely the entire way back to the cabin.

If it's not black I don't believe it. 99% of panthers in Louisiana are black

The pic was taken in the old Georgia Pacific game management area which is now private clubs.

But seriously, were there no other options? I don't know, just leave it alone maybe...
