Hi folks,

I hope this is OK to ask here. I'm looking for a concealed carry gun. I was going to buy a Walther ppk/s .380, but Buds is sold out of them, and I'm planning to go to their retail store tomorrow.

Any advice from those who have ones already that they carry? TIA!

Kahr makes some fantastic compacts for CC as, of course, does glock and my personal fave Kimber. I will be adding a kahr to my 'protection collection' this week though as some of them are perfect for CC. My current Kimber CDP Ultra II .45 can be cumbersome at times when I am not wearing proper CC attire

Yes, I prefer one that will do the job if needed.

It will be mainly for my wife. She just got her CCDW and wants something that will fit in her purse.

I've been getting burnt out on these threads lately with the gun rush, but I'll give you my best advice:

Kahr CM9/CW9
S&W M&P Shield
Springfield XDs
S&W Airweight
Ruger LCR

Then I retract my XDs unless she is an experienced shooter.

Is your wife gun savvy? Specifically issue comfortable/familiar with a semi auto? If not a revolver may be better suited for her. My wife carries a Smith & Wesson Airweight.

She's learning. She shoots a Ruger SR9 currently and handles it really well. It's the only one she has shot so far.
I did see the S&W Airweight revolver on Bud's site. I hadn't thought about a revolver before, but will look at it closer.

They are great guns and simpler to operate than a semi-auto, but more difficult to shoot well.

Make sure that if she gets a semi, she's strong enough to rack the slide easily.

I have the XDs and love it. Occasionally will slip an LCP into my pocket but the XDs is my EDC.

M&P shield 9mm. Hands down IMO the best out there. (for me) shoots like a damn dream. They're hard to find though. They had one in the entire gun show in Kenner. Doors opened at 9, purchased at 9:10. Changed the sights out with trijicon night sights and bought a nice leather paddle holster. Most comfortable piece I have ever carried.

Kahr 380 with night sights.

Sweet little pistol.
