Just givin yall a heads up the reggio boat launch will be closed bc theyre installing a new b ulkhead. I went down thursday with the yak and the entId been going there a lot and I had put in a 20$ (its all i had) into the launch box so I felt like it would be no big deal since I still had a launch paid for. you could never back a trailer down there but the yak is no issue its only 10ft. Took the yak out and had an epic paddle around the marsh. It is truly God's country.

He’s going to turn it into a trailer park rental. I don’t blame him. Less headaches, make more money, etc

Hate to see it go as I love fishing Reggio, but that launch has to be one of the worst in the state.

So wait permanently or just while they do construction? OP needs some commas or something.

I’ve heard permanently, but I guess only the owner knows.

I was told by several people at the launch that it was gonna close permanently when I went out the other day, but some new guy at work claims he’s best friends with the owner. Claims the owner is renovating the launch and making spots for camps, but that people will still be able to launch when he’s done fixing it all up. Not sure I buy it, but I’m passing this info along

It's not a very big place as it is, depending how many campers they add could take up the truck/trailer parking pretty quick.

So I got an update. I was told two lots by the oak tree have already been sold. The plan (for now) is to make spots for campers and a few trailers, as well as put some gate with a key. Whoever the current owner is supposedly wants charge some annual fee and give a select few people who pay a key to get in and use the launch

I'm not an expert on launching kayaks there but can't you just drive a little farther and put in off the road? Doesn't seem like the best business plan.

I’ve got a friend that has two hobies and I usually use one there in Reggio. This is something we’ve discussed and considered, but were about to start taking our boats there until we found out it was closing for awhile.

There have been plenty of people taking boats with towers out and launching there for years. I think some of these people will cave and pay an annual premium to use that launch similarly to a lease, with peace of mind that not everyone can use it like they can. Landowner still makes the money back doing this and having camping spots. Yes, you can go down to Delacroix and launch your boats, but have to navigate your way back to Reggio to get to those spots (which is what I’m going to do), but not everyone will want to do this. I think this is what he sees. Doesn’t mean I agree or that it will be the plan later. As of right now, this is his plan and it can change. I’m told he is gonna take his time reopening it

I like that launch. But, when I had my old go devil engine (no neutral or reverse) I had to make my approach very slowly so as not to overrun the launch and make sure nobody was in the backdown. Especially when there was a southeast wind and an incoming tide. I had to shut the engine off at the right moment.

Any updates? Was thinking of taking the gheenoe down to chase some reds and bass. Don't want to waste a trip if the launch is closed.

Sorry for the necro-bump here, but has anyone launched out of Reggio recently? The new RV park have a ramp? Bait, ice, etc?

Looking to put a 16' flat in there this weekend.
