Gas with wood smoking is the best IMO.

I'm not reading all that shite. Are all those dummies thinking you can't get smoke flavor with a gas grill?

Yes, but they don't know because they'd rather say charcoal is the only way and gas sucks.

One other benefit of a ceramic grill is the ability to shut it down and save the unburned charcoal for next time.

And charcoal isn't the only way, it's just better.

a good piece of fish or steak takes less than 15 minutes but i'd still cook it over chacoal before gas if i had a choice.
Why?

I use a gas grill for the convenience of not having to deal with charcoal. I like how I can come home from work and under 5 min my grill is ready to go. I do prefer the taste of charcoal though.

Inspector, if you are in baton rouge you can get it at Goodwood Hardware. Good place to scope out some nice grills and accessories, or eggcessaries as us green edgers call them.

I've only had one with mine when I was cooking some extremely greasy meat.

you're right about that. cooked a briket for 10.5 hours on Sunday and I still have enough unburned charcoal in the firebox to last me another quick grill or so..

There is no

. Unless you do the Alton Brown thing and lay some flank steak directly on the coals.

My opinion is that cooking over a charcoal fueled fire lends more/different flavor than a fire fueled by propane or natural gas. I dont know about you but I have no desire to "taste charcoal".

Maybe we need a cook off. Someone buy the Trio/Quad from Academy and test it.

No, I don't. The only food where people can tell the difference in a blind test is with steak, but that is only one aspect. I do not like the temp variations, so I only use charcoal with steak if I do not have access to a gas grill or a good oven.

The only time I agree with that is when people dont let the damn lighter fluid burn all the way off. Still not the charcoal your tasting, but damn it will ruin some food.
