Texas allows one per year, you get a tag on your license.
You can mail your tag in with data and receive a 2nd I think.

That’s a better option than lowering the limit. Those big frickers are a pain to clean anyway.

Take your picture and let them go

The bow fishing outfits are already practicing puncture and release on the undersized ones, easy to adapt for any over 27”.

such a shortage of reds that it took us almost an hour to limit on a work trip (multiple boats) last week instead of 30 minutes
Have never understood how ‘fisherman’ brag about catching redfish.
I like to eat a couple every now and then and they are fun to catch, but they will eat anything that is in front of them.

Do not even get me started on the mfering gd pos pogie industry, environmentalist and sportsman need together buy that shite out and close it down

I don’t think anyone really cares about bull reds but may an alternative, and local can purchase a tag for one bull per year for 5 bucks provided a catch data sheet and sample turned in and give anyone that tags and releases 10 redfish a non transferrable tag to keep one bull red. Let the fisherman work for you not just handcuffs them. I used to catch them all the time, I could easily tag ten a year

I’m not a fan of bragging about any kind of fish, especially on the internet.
What I can’t understand is the pompous attitude some fisherman have about somebody else’s methods or catch.

A 28" red may be hard to clean, but it is good eating.
If we would ban shrimp and pogie boats from keeping by-catch, that would greatly help

CCA-Capitol Clowns Association. If this group is involved, it is simply a smokescreen to convince people to give them money for a mission they do not follow and then send the money to the Texas boys who actually own CCA of Louisiana.

Where should we donate money for conservation?

Absolutely! They are the reason for all kinds of fisheries issues. Get rid of them and you would see a huge increase in fish population.

That wouldn't work on the pogie boats because the fish are basically killed while waiting in the nets by being crushed or suffocated.
There's really only one option for them and that's forcing them offshore.

South Carolina banned any over 24" decades ago, and the population exploded. Redfish are like trashfish now, there's so many.
They don't have pogie boats but they have a hell of alot of shrimp boats with lots of bycatch, but the population really did explode when people started putting the big ones back.
I don't normally think rec angler restrictions have much impact in saltwater, but this would be an exception to my default opinion.

I've seen a lot of stupid takes on this board, but this one might win....

And still not a fricking peep about pogie boats or bow fishing

Tp Water Tiger-Do a little research before you make such an asinine comment. The Sec. of State has a free search option, and you can see for yourself. But I guess you are one of those guys dressed in the heavy starch Columbia shirt, with shorts too short, a funny belt and girly shoes who show up to support a group who refuses to post their staff salary. Incidentally, this group is the only Louisian group that is a 501C that does so.
