Cat Deterrent?

I like my neighbors, but their damn cat is always on our property. Climbing on the cars, garden, and so on. Anyone have any suggestions? I hate to be that guy, but I don't have a cat because I don't want one. TIA

I am in the same boat, some stray cat seems to think my convertible top on my car is there as it's bed.
I keep a tray filled with moth balls on the car...seems to work.

What a POS move that would be. I would straight up retaliate.

22 is the 2nd option or traps. 1st is to ask them to keep their stupid, stinking worthless, cats off your property....

Asking a neighbor kindly to please keep their dog or cat off your property never ends well. Just trap and bring to local pound without saying anything. If they are a responsible pet owner that's where they'll go to find their pet and they may take action to prevent it getting out in the future. If they don't, just repeat the process until they do.

I want to state for the record that I would never shoot my neighbor's cat, or probably any other cat unless it was becoming a major nuisance for some reason. The .22 comment was a joke.

We've hinted that the cat is at our house too much but they just kind of laughed it off.

If this is the case, you have to make a decision. Put up with it forever, get into a fight with your neighbor, or silently relocate the cat to a shelter until the neighbor realizes they need to contain their critter.
The other options would likely get you sent to jail these days.

so if we're neighbors and your dog shitz in my front yard I can follow your advice with a .22 ?
common sense is to share any concerns with the neighbor and ask him to remedy the problem

A Lester bottle with spray nozzle.
To rest pellet gun on.

To be honest, that's part of the price you pay to live in a neighborhood. You have to deal with cats because they are doing cat stuff. And you have to deal with your neighbors' dogs when they occasionally get out. Just be thankful for the cats taking care of some of the mice and moles.

Then keep your animal on your property

Is a pitbull out of the question as a deterrent?

just straight up tell them you dont want it on your property and they need to act accordingly. I'm sure where you live has ordinances for free roaming pets. Tell them you dont want to but if they dont rectify the situation you will act accordingly.
since when did everyone become so nonconfrontational that they cant have an honest talk with a neighbor.

probably the best and most level-headed answer on the thread.
you live in a neighborhood, you're gonna have cats around. just the way it is. really any action you take against the animal or any conversation you have with your neighbor will strain the relationship. unless the cat is doing actual, physical damage to your property, i'd just let it be.

Put your cars in the garage. Problem solved.

Exactly.
If you are not responsible enough to keep your pet on your property, do not get one.
After it getting out a few times and it gets killed, it’s the owners fault in my opinion.
If your cat continues to “get out
