What’s the rental rate? I don’t have a boat big enough for rip running anymore, I might do this.

Even if I had a rock solid contract basically saying if they put one scratch on it they owe me a new boat, and a bulletproof waiver for them to sign, I still wouldn’t think this is a good idea.

ETA: gotdamn autocorrect

I agree. People abuse the shite out of rentals.

Rented a sunray on lake travis. Next weekend my friends none with any boating experience did it again and I was working. They returned it with a bladeless prop. Turning 5k rpms the whole way in going maybe 2mph. they got a big bill.

People rent boats all the time. This is nothing new.
Just get a good lawyer friend to write up a contract.
You break, you buy.

I mean, I know so many people who don’t even take care of their own shite, muchless a rental. Hell, a man better even watch jealous friend when they use their things WITH THEM PRESENT.

Running a boat on a lake is one thing...running one down in south Louisiana especially in the Venice area is completely different. No way I’d let someone run one around down there.

I think boat clubs are the wave of the future. The members care about them and don’t want to wreck them, and they don’t have to do the maintenance. I have a friend in one and he loves it. Will be interesting to see if the club makes money. The biggest issue I see is how to make sure people aren’t all wanting to use them on the weekend. Gotta get some shift worker guys in the club to keep the demand in balance.
