Just now discovered this fact. Virginia is gone, folks.

They also happen to be the only state where it is illegal to use a radar detector.

Yup. Breaks my wife’s heart Bc she’s a Virginia native and UVA alum. She’s sickened by how northern Virginia is ruining the state. Monument Avenue in Richmond is down to just the Arthur Ashe statue at this point.

Been a Virginia resident for 36 years. The Dems have ruined this once great state. I guess I have to stop and pee beside the interstate if I'm carrying now or look for a Mickey D's close by. Traveling through Maryland on our way to Gettysburg, I had to stop at the last WV rest stop and secure a handgun in the back of the car to go about 12 or 15 miles through Maryland before crossing over to Pennsylvania. This Virginia law is going to definitely create criminals out of otherwise law abiding folks. And yes, NOVA, along with Charlottesville, Roanoke, Blacksburg, and Richmond has destroyed this state. There are some fantastic deer hunting opportunities in Virginia and if you are considering a deer hunt here, be advised that you can't legally carry protection in these rest areas anymore.

only if you have to use it to defend yourself
so basically the choice they have given people is to go to jail or be killed

Why do you live in fear? I didn't renew my cc once I became a believer and turned off the propaganda

Not speaking for him, but if you feel so inclined then just carry wherever the hell you want. If you do it right, nobody will ever know unless you have to shoot someone in self defense, so frick it. It's a sentiment I hear more and more. I have permit, but I understand those who feel they don't need one.

Well I do try to stay legal with things. Would hate to lose my job due to an arrest.

Shocker, it’s the college towns and cities that always veer left.
I haven’t been in ten years but I’m sure the state is still gorgeous and a nice place to raise a family. I just don’t understand this push to change that.

I hear this a lot anymore. And not just concerning CC. Perhaps the thread is heading towards more of a political thread which needs to be on the PT? In any event, my point in this response is that I am hearing more and more from decent, law abiding folks that they will just not comply. I believe this sentiment represents a growing resentment, disrespect, and disregard for ever increasing government encroachment on our everyday lives. If the politicians disregard and flaunt the law, why shouldn't the everyday citizens feel and do the same way? Edited to add this: A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the highest virtues of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means.
Thomas Jefferson

This only makes sense as a way to punish people they see as rednecks.

A bunch of Constitutional issues here. I realize that rest areas are "state" property, but it's on an Interstate highway system funded with federal dollars.
The Firearms Owner’s Protection Act (FOPA) protects people transporting a weapon from local laws and prohibitions. The weapon must be in a locked container separate from the ammunition, not accessible to the passengers of the vehicle. So that should be the first avenue of attack for this law. Someone (from out of state) should follow the FOPA rules and let someone try and prosecute them.

Only criminals can CC at Virginia rest stops. This is in direct response to the numerous shootings by non-criminals at Virginia rest stops that never happened.

If we actually had Republicans who worked to reduce the size of government instead of just giving lip service to it, Virginia could be saved.

Are you in some kind of criminal enterprise? Then your risk is miniscule. " Fear not, for I am with you always".. God.
