Or will it dull my blade bad? It is treated with creosote so wasn’t sure how it would handle it.

And a pair of safety glasses would be a good idea. You don't want any of that dust or chips getting in your eyes.

Just watch out for those thick metal staples they sometimes pound into the poles for ground wires and such.

I would wear Tyvek suit, some good gloves, and goggles. Those creosote shavings will burn the hell out of you.

It will dull your chain faster than cutting regular wood. Make sure your chain is sharp, and wear jeans. Don't rub your face either.

You want peelings coming off, not dust

Ya’ll are a bunch of of goshdarn vajay-jays.

I’ve been cutting RR ties with a circular saw and drilling holes for the past three weeks working on a landscape step project for the backyard.
Ain’t worn nothing but shorts and tank tops every day, sweatin like a beyotch covered in creosote shavings and dust.
You youngsters need to put down your X-boxes and toughen up.

Chemical burns and toxic-shmoxic....my arse.... boys, back in the day we used to..uhh....uhhook...(spits)...cut acres of RR ties...uhkk....hauuukkkk.... before lunchtime and NEVER ...huuukkk...aghhhh...huukkk...(continued hacking ) wore no damn girlie dust masks or chit like that...(more hacking, accompanied with spitting up lung matter)

:)

Seriously though that chit will burn you if you don’t get it off your skin within 10-20 minutes.

I didn’t wear a dust mask the first day of my project , but have since then.

That said, if I kick the bucket in the next year or two from the creosote I’ll be sure to give my OB breatheren an update. LOL
