Seems clear to me. It tells you everything you need to know.

Are you a youth?

What are the inclusive archery hunting dates? If the youth hunt falls within those dates, you can archery hunt regardless of age. If the archery dates do not include the youth hunt dates, you cannot.

You could always call, and they’ll let you know. But, I called for another WMA, and that is what I was told by the game warden.

I can’t believe I missed this
Youth Deer Hunt regulations apply EXCEPT that archery and open season small game hunting is allowed.

So I’m good to go as adult except gotta wear orange

Youth gun doesn’t mean adults can’t archery hunt.

I guess he was making sure that's the case on NF. Wmas usually close other seasons during youth weekend.

Probably so.

Also realize that rules can be hard to figure out the way they are written.

I’m not saying don’t do it as you likely legally can, but I often times try to scout for turkeys during youth season as it’s the weekend before opening weekend and it’s generally been frowned upon by others for me to be in the woods. Most people are ignorant so legally there’s nothing wrong at all with it if the season is open. But I’ve had a dad get mad at me when I just getting out of my truck not anywhere close to anyone else he drove by and yelled at me. I would certainly give all youth hunters tons of space. I usually just walk the closed roads and listen. I also had a check station employee not want to let me in and frown on my going in.

ETA: public land is public land so as far as I’m concerned if a hiker or birdwatcher can be there then there’s nothing wrong with any other hunting that’s legal during a youth season

Yup. Most of the game wardens don't even know wtf is going on.

This - and the assholes in Baton Rouge write them like that on purpose.

Wildlife Refuge - Federal
Wildlife Management Area - State
National Forest (Kisatchie) - Federal but goes by State rules
National Forest (Kisatchie) - Red Dirt/Catahoula goes by different rules than the rest of Kisatchie

I mean, Kisatchie has one page with everything pretty much laid out. It can be confusing with different areas/seasons, but it’s not that bad.

I’ve looked up regulations in a lot of other states and I think Louisiana does a pretty dang good job putting everything in the same place compared to others.
