It can handle a stump or log, while these types of mudboats do not perform or are meant for heavy flooded timber like a long tail or surface drive, it runs a hardened stainless prop and the strut is built heavy enough to handle a strick, as it will eventually happen for sure. The stump jumper or keel plate actually runs out a few inches before the shaft log exits the bottom of the boat. Generally with one of these if your running in reqlly heavy vegetation or an area you are uncertain regarding stumps you slow down. If you keel riding up on one you can reverse off

Honestly don't know at this point. I know what I'll have in it in material, about $8500 in aluminum when all said and done. Probably have another grand in welding gas, and all consumables. He's ordered all the rigging stuff and the motor. Got a good many hours in it, but it's an old family friend, so gonna figure up a brother in law price for him best I can when I'm done for my time. Its been different then the normal surface drive stuff I usualy build, so I've actauuly enjoyed this one. Been a long time since I really welded for a living building small crew boats since I've messed with anything inboard. I'd venture to guess to build one trunk key rigged with a brand new power package, boat motor and trailer would probably be in the 65k to 70k range depending just what you use

Reminds me of the patriot mudboats out of bourg

Ran one similar to that a long time in Bayou Black, bought it from LLOG folks. Guy in New Iberia built it. Damn thing cut thru anything except cypress knees. Did hit a downed power pole once and bent the shaft,

I reached out to them about a year ago to get one built and the owner Brooks told me he wasn’t messing with it anymore because he was too busy with other things.

I have one with an EA81 Subaru in it, 18x54. Built by a local guy not far from me. We have a ton of these around my area.
We have a group on FB called "Inboard Nation". Lots of good information for mudboats there.

Finally about got this thing wrapped up. Have one or two small little detaials to finish but this is pretty well done. Just waiting on WLF to come take a look so I can get a HIN# on it. Hopefully get it to it's owner in the next two weeks so he can start the paint and rigging. I'll try and get some pictures up once all that is done. This was a pretty involved build for a 20' flat bottom boat!
