Bowhunters, What Release

What release you archery folk shooting? I’m looking for a new release and have always shot index / wrist releases but have been trying some thumb releases as of recent. I really like the shooting experience of the index release but hate wearing it and the cumbersome nature of them.
Leaning towards a Carter thumb release in 3-finger but not completely sold yet.
What you go and how do you like it?

Where are you located? I have a blackout three finger thumb release you could try out. I went back to index release but the blackout seemed well made. I think it might be made by true ball.

BR. That would be awesome. Thank you.

I've been shooting a Scott Mongoose for decades. Tried 3-4 different Carter releases and I couldn't get comfortable with the release. Probably a mental block on my part. I do believe a thumb release is more accurate. You have to practice and make sure it's adjusted properly for your anchor position. Lots of my friends shoot a Chocolate addiction 4 finger release

One of the ones I’ve been trying out was the choc. addiction 4 finger. I want to try the 3 finger version of it. It is a damn smooth release. Feels awesome. It is just large with the 4 finger when letting it hang from my d-loop.

I shoot a Scott shark that I like. My wife shoots a Scott Lil goose. Pretty sure they have a lifetime warranty.

I switched to a tru ball execution this year and could not be happier. The trigger is excellent and can be adjusted down to nothing. The cinch version is infinitely adjustable, which is what I what made me want a new release. Never could get comfortable between two lengths on my old one, and always felt like I was drawing too short or too long. With the cinch strap it is perfect.
There’s pros and cons to thumb styles and a lot of their features lend more to target shooting. It can definitely be done but the gist I get is you’re paying a lot for features that don’t necessarily help when a deer is in front of you. I was prepared to spend big bucks on one since I’d talked myself out of a new bow, but after a lot of reading I stuck with a high quality index.

I have a Carter chocolate addiction 4 finger and a Stan perfex 3. Both are great. I prefer the adjustability of the perfex, it comes with a 3 and 4 finger attachment. The perfex also has a back tension version that’s exactly the same. I don’t think you could go wrong with either of those. There’s so many options, it sucks you can’t try them all out.

Short-n-sweet. I choose it every time over my expensive arse Spot Hogg.

And that is my problem. I don’t mind spending the money on a really good quality release. But you can’t get a good feel for it at the pro shop. You have to put sometime behind it and they are cost prohibitive to try a bunch out. I can’t keep buying and selling / giving them away until I find one I like. I have tried probably 7-8 from different friends and family but that isn’t even the tip of the iceberg for what is out there.

Stan is superior to cater in my opinion. They have more options as well.

I usually just buy stuff on rokslide or archerytalk when I wanna try it. The most I’m ever out is shipping when I sell it again. I do it for binoculars, spotting scopes, rangefinders, releases, whatever.

A back tension release.
eta: I still like the pulling through, to me it's more akin to softly squeezing a trigger.

Big fan of the Stan releases. Have shot them for years and still use the Just X line. It was retired and the modern replacement would be the Perfex. I like the short throat, but absolutely love the sears in a Stan trigger. Have never been a fan of the TruBall releases, though the Abyss is a nice release. I just like the fit and feel to the Stan's better.
