Pulling it, the boat seems to bounce up and down on the trailer a good bit.

Shouldn't bounce at all. I also put another tie down on the front as a precautionary measure. If the rope on your winch ever breaks, it's gone gone.

I've used one with a handle extension and foot switch. I preferred it for straight canals with nothing to maneuver around, but anytime I was moving the boat around logs and grass and such I hated it. And most of the time, that's what I'm doing

I looked this morning, and what looks like the trailer running rail in my pic, is actually the reflection of the trailer itself, reflecting on the boat. Guess he has kinda clean.

The winch strap wasn't tightened all the way. And he has one of those safety straps on the front also, but it wasn't tightened either.

The owner, myself and a buddy had taken it for a ride, so I'm not sure who did all the non-tightening... but of course, from now on... its my deal.

Great choice on a trailer also. It even has a spare tire

The spare tire is more important than the boat for 4LSU2! He is a spare tire nazi.

really? being able to control a trolling motor with either foot while going down a bank fishing structure without missing a beat is key imo...if you're fishing offshore structure then yes i can see where u wouldn't mind a hand controlled, saltwater also...there's a reason why most bass guys use foot control

taking a hand off the rod n reel to move a trolling motor handle with your hand is wasted time imo

I now get it. You guys are doing it wrong. You should never touch a hand control with your hand. You kick the bigfoot(no longer made) with your feet. There is not one aspect of a foot control that is better. With foot:

Tied to the foot
Destroys your hip
Constant on is a bitch
Making the unit turn sucks arse

With hand:

Can walk anywhere you want
Can adjust speed, on/off, and direction with quick foot flip
No cord

There really is no competition.

Ive always used a foot control but after fishing in my dads bay boat with the hand one I can see its advantages also. Wouldnt mind having it set up where I have both options

probably a reason for that

recessed petal, stand straight up and move your ankle...never been a problem for me

never use it, don't need to

sounds like you have an autopilot footcontrol, which is different than a hand controlled trolling motor.

anything that would have to make you focus on doing anything other than fishing would be doing it wrong imo

No. Black box on floor. Left side is dimmer switch for on/off. Right side has dimmer switch for high bypass. Center has roller for infinite speed adjust. It's a beautiful thing. If you never need constant on, then you fish differently than I do. I cannot imagine not just leaving it on.

Totally agree, which is why I hate foot controls.

I like handle control. I fish plastic, therefore don't the need constant running and gunning. Like to take my time, and cover areas I'm fishing. It becomes a pain when I'm maneuvering around stumps and such, but not too often. Off shore have no clue, don't do it.

I've never used constant on

My only complaint is that I have to put one foot up on the pedal, but a recessed pedal fixes that. I just don't have the deck space to give up for it.

Same here

I've used this a few times this year while trying to cover ground fishing a spinnerbait. Found some fished stached up on a point and found a speed where I could have it on constant run facing about 10mph wind. Pretty much kept me in one spot

I fish a lot of open water and most of the time, in the wind. The times I've fished with people and was forced to use a foot, I was beat up at the end of the day.

I rarely fish open water. Usually I just let the wind push me and use the TM to steer when it's bad

Trust me on that H51 the hand controlled TM is the way to go...that front deck is way to small for a foot pedal plus cord plus gear....

I have an H51...it had a foot control on it from the factory and it has been replaced with a hand controlled unit.

Larger rigs with more deck space and a recessed deck for the pedal make all the difference in the world...

It will wear you out fighting the wind with one foot up on a pedal constantly working. I keep hoping at some point my body will get accustomed to it and build the muscle needed that it wont bother me
