Whoa whoa on the hand controlled trolling motors.

I hate the foot controls. Although I fish saltwater and its a pain in the arse to try to mess with a foot control whilst bobbing in the gulf.

Yes, the hand controlled ones have their place IMO; in a saltwater boat.

So you think just lowering the roller will help it?

Pulling it, the boat seems to bounce up and down on the trailer a good bit.

You may like it better, some people do (especially beginners), but if you're gonna be bass fishing a lot learning how to work a foot controlled TM is almost as important and learning how to flip and pitch IMO.

Not sure about that.

Make sure the rear tie down straps are good and snug. Also get you a secondary (safety) chain. Hook it to the front of the boat(same place as the front winch strap) and hook it straight down to the trailer.

Make sure to get an aftermarket telescoping extension handle. Will make all the difference in the world. Paid over a hundred for mine but I wanted a heavy duty one. You can get em much cheaper at Bass Pro and probably Academy if you wanna try one out first.

It may just need to be pushed up higher on the trailer. The u-bolt should be up against the roller (for most boats).

First check and make sure its tight against the front roller. Then check the tongue weight, the axle may be back a bit on the trailer.

Don't frick around with it yourself. check the obvious and then if that doesnt work take it to a dealer and let them check the setup.

It just doesn't look like its set proper on the trailer at all

It probably has one but if not make sure to have a fuel water separator installed.

I also highly recommend a perko switch (if it doesn't have one) which also are not very expensive.

In the picture he posted it doesn't look right, but the ones from the link look fine. May have something to do with the way his truck was sitting.

Very likely it is just an odd angle of the picture.

In my pic, the trailer was actually jacked all the way up.. had just unhooked from my truck... and I need to get a drop hitch.

I really think it is just a weird angle/lighting pic.

But... I did notice it seemed to bounce a lot on its way home from Lafayette to Baton Rouge. I'll look at it more closely tomorrow.

You're probably the only LA bass fisherman I've seen disliking foot control

I can halfway see their use for freshwater only. But for me in saltwater, No Way do I want to be trying to fool with a foot control. Also it's just another part that can and will break.

Sorry, but I too hate hand controls with a roaring passion. Foot controls are harder to learn, but once you've got it, you'd never go back. I wish they made high thrust saltwater models in Foot Control. I hate having to alter a cast retrive to adjust the trolling motor with my hand. I also like the fact that when I take my foot off the button it stops the motor. I know they make the foot button switch, but it's not the same.

really? being able to control a trolling motor with either foot while going down a bank fishing structure without missing a beat is key imo...if you're fishing offshore structure then yes i can see where u wouldn't mind a hand controlled, saltwater also...there's a reason why most bass guys use foot control

taking a hand off the rod n reel to move a trolling motor handle with your hand is wasted time imo
