That is pretty funny. I've flipped my 4 wheeler before putting it on but I did have a ramp on it. Kind of scary when a 700cc 4wheeler falls back on you.

Got 2

Went hunting with my step son in law(game warden) down around little cheniere(sp) for ducks. Back down to the ramp, no dock no lights. Unstrap everything, john boat, and he jumps in the boat. I back the trailer in and he hollars good. I proceed to pull out and the rope on the bow catches somewhere on the trailer, pulling the bow up as the trailer comes out of the water. I hear this shreek and stop. Get out of the truck to inspect and he and the boat are soaking wet.

Friend of mine borrows a boat to take his family skiing on Toledo Bend. 18 footer with about a 125 I believe. The trailer has those rollers on it for easy on and off. He backs and stops to unstrap and untie the boat. Gets back in the truck and once he takes it out of park, the boat slides off on the concrete.

This is why I never unhook the winch from the boat until the boat is touching the water no matter what kind of trailer.

Staying at my buddy's grandma's camp when we were about 12, we had tied my dad's bass tracker to her dock, front and rear just to be safe. The livewell never worked in that boat, so I never knew if the switch was on or off because we never used it or paid attention to it. Well it must have been in the on position and finally cleared its throat because it pumped the boat full of water all night long. When we came out the next morning, there was only about 2 foot of the bow out of the water, the rest was submerged about a foot and those 2 ropes were as tight as guitar strings! It took forever to rectify that situation but dad never found out.

Also, a boat WILL NOT back off a trailer with the transom saver still attached.

i love it when pple don't run their engine for a minute or two before unhooking, and then when they try to start their engine, it doesn't work.

that's because the worst thing you can do for your motor is start it out of the water

i'd rather it not start because of a spark plug or something and find that out while floating rather than really screw something up because i dry started it

Awesome!

You can crank a motor out of the water without any problems, you just can't let it heat up. I generally make sure it'll crank and then kill it. Then drop it in water to let the engine cool itself off. The best of both worlds.

I learned to do this backing a borrowed boat off a very steep ramp....and floating down river without power or paddle

Told a friend of mine to get the fuel hose, for some reason (probably the alchol) he put the nozzle in the rod holder so he could grab something and someone comes behind him and turns the pump on. I turn around and have 5 gallons of diesel on the floor of the boat and a big arse slick behind the boat

My story starts about two weeks before I got to the boat ramp. I put my boat up after a fishing trip and did not take the plug out. We had a lot of rain over that time span and when I hauled the boat from Baton Rouge to Golden Meadow I thought something felt funny when I would accelerate or stop. Anyway I get to the landing and unstrap everything and back in. When I hit the brakes on the truck the boat takes off very, very fast. It was in the middle of the bayou before we could grab it and another boat pulls it in.
we pulled it back out and I take out the plug and water runs out of the boat for at least 10 minutes. The weight of the water sloshing to the back of the boat is what pushed it off the trailer.

Now I never leave the dock without pulling the plug.

Watched two black guys back their boat into the water and their 65 mercury fell off in the water. I told them it was for the best because it would have probally left them stranded anyway . If ya want a laugh the landing is a good place

I've never done it but I have always thought that a case of beer and a lawn chair early in the fishing season at a boat ramp would be an entertaining way to spend a day.

back in the early 70's my friend down the street got permission to take his boat out for the first time. we hitched behind the half cab bronco and headed to black bayou to set out yo-yo's. tis was in january and it was cold as hell.

he backed the boat down and we pushed it off. we had tied the boat to the small dock. he pulled up, parked and we unloaded a few more things to put in the boat. we turned around and the only thing sticking out of the water was the trolling motor.

two older guys comforted him and got the boat up and back on the trailer. he was scared shitless to tell his dad but he did and his dad laughed and said "I bet you remember to put the plug in now" those were good times.

We used to have a competition (where the contestants had no clue) for the stupidest act of the year.
One year the winner........while having prayer before the start of a tournament of Guntersville, still dark outside, completely silent except for the prayer...this idiot runs all over the back of my partner's boat. He had kept his foot on the trolling motor and closed his eyes.

Another winner......after dropping the boat off in the water, the driver pulled to the top of the ramp and hit the back of a parked boat trailer so hard the front of the truck ended up IN the trailer.

many others

Several years ago, my Dad and buddy invited me to go to Bussey Brake fishing with them. Something came up and I did not go. Anyone knows Bussey also knows there is a windrow right smack dab in the middle of the lake. Dad's buddy was adamant on taking his boat, as he had just bought it off of a guy from South LA. The boat had short shallow sides on it, and wind splashed a wave over the side, and they were under water in no time! Dad said the gas tank floated by him within 20 seconds!

They ended up getting a ride back to the boat launch and had to get a diver to locate the boat. Damn glad I didn't make that trip, and laugh my arse off every time I think of it!
