on bussy, you can do about 25 knots on a windy day,,, without the motor.. Is that rockpile still there?

They ended up sitting on the wind row waiting for someone to pick them up.

Rockpile is still there, and so is Bobby that runs the landing.

IP is trying to sell the lake to the state in a package deal with Wham Brake, but the money is not right yet. Dad still works for IP and is in the loop. Bussey will become a public lake once this deal is complete.

We still lease several hundred acres on the south end of Wham by Franklin and Russell Sage. I haven't hunted there in several years, after moving south, but damn fine memories there. I used to kill the shite out of ducks in my blind on a daily basis. 30 ducks for 2 men in an hour were the good ol days for sure!!

My blind was in Alligator Lake. Small world!

We built a suspension bridge across the spoil bank at the north end of Alligator Lake, 10 years or so ago for 4 wheeler access to the island. We would catch all of the ducks leaving Wham when the other hunters started shooting. I've killed quite a few deer in those woods also.

Told a friend of mine to get the fuel hose, for some reason (probably the alchol) he put the nozzle in the rod holder so he could grab something and someone comes behind him and turns the pump on. I turn around and have 5 gallons of diesel on the floor of the boat and a big arse slick behind the boat

Were you at CoCo Marina when this happened? Terrebonne Sheriffs and HasMat closed the Marina for most of the afternoon and evening. There was a tourney going on at the time if I'm not mistaken......

Pulled under the tractor shed @ Little Missouri one morning. It was raining hard. Got out and was putting my waders on and saw this long haired blond doing the same. It was Farah....those were the days

Yes ole geauxt. sometimes I hunted the rice field and sometimes the reservoir at Eagles Nest. I'm pretty sure I finished off a crippled Pintail you shot

I'm glad I wasn't with George the day the day the Feds dropped in on a helicopter. fricking Oliveros.

I really miss George.

Cold front passe thru in October, and was killing me not to be on the lake. It wasn't duck season but I knew the ducks were flying. Called a buddy of mine, and we set off. Launched my john boat w/25hp big johnson a here we go. Jump in the blind and ducks were everywhere. We left the decoys out after teal season. After about an hour of watching/ not shooting we head back to the landing. Half way back I hit a stump, and off goes the motor. I grab the gas tank as its following the motor. Thank goodness its only 5 foot of water. I look at my buddy, and say, you've heard of a in-board motor, out-board motor, I have a over-board motor.

Well I have a few boat bloopers. The 2 most memorable are as follows:

Back when I was 16 & in high school a friend & I were fishing on the mermanteau river in his dads 16 ft boat. We decided to run down to the jetties, park the boat in the surf & fish off of the rocks. We had managed to get some guy to buy us some beer & we hauled our icechest up on the rocks with the rest of our fishing stuff. We drank an 18 pack between the 2 of us & fished off of the rock for 3 or 4 hours. Well the fish quit biting & we decided that since we were out of beer it was time to go. We turned around to get our stuff off the rocks & the boat was about 30 ft. out of the water up on the beach because the tide fell out! It took us 2 hrs to drag it back into the water!

I was fishing out of Port Lavaca recently & my buddy suggested we try oyster lake. We got to the mouth of the lake & we thought we were in the channel that leads to the back of the lake. Apparently we zigged when we should have zagged. We planted my 22' bay boat on an oyster reef @ 3PM. At the time we ran onto the reef there was about 10" of water under the boat but the tide was falling. By 10PM there was no water @ all under the boat. I set a flashlight on the ground on 1 side of the boat & you could see light on the other side. We spent the night in the boat & didn't get off of the reef until the tide rolled in @ 7:30 the next morning!

A friend of mine took these pics @ Calcasieu Point awhile back. Some douche parked their SUV & trailer directly in front of the 3rdramp @ the launch.

Found out later from a repairman that one of the clamps was stripped. In other words it felt like it was tight, but wasn't.
