Best zero-turn mower for the money

Looking to stay under 5k.
I’d like to realistically spend between 3-4K though. Nothing huge. I have about an acre of property now that I push mow. I also mow my neighbor’s yard with her lawn mower and she has about 5acres.
Thanks!

Are you saying you are going to stop using her’s to mow her yard? Big difference IMO between mowing 1 acre a week or 6 with one machine.

Plenty people around me have Gravely. Very good mowers and a little less than some of the other brands. Paid 3500 for my moms and she has been mowing with it for 9 years. Just replaced the starter and a few belts. She was also mowing 3 acres until last year.
I have a Kubota for a year now and like it.
I think they all are good products now. Each will have something it does better than the other.

Yea, hers is terrible. She’s an old lady and can’t do it herself. She doesn’t have the money to pay someone.

That's a tough price range for 6 acres. If that's what you have to deal with then the Hustler Raptor or Bad Boy MZ Magnum with the Kawasaki engine.

I have a Crafstman 25hp, 54” cut with fabricated deck for use on 1 acre. Got it for $2700. Missed a $2500 sale.

Husqvarna
We have a Husqvarna 54" deck that is 7 years old.
It has the Kohler engine which has been great.
Cuts a 1 acre yard and 2 acre yard every two weeks.
Even let my friend use it to start up his Grass Cutting business for 2 years.
So it has a bunch of hours on it and was used everyday for 2 years.
Replaced the tires this year because dry-rot.
And changed oil, oil filter, and air filter for the first time in its 7 year life.
It does ride rough tho

If you are going to mow more than one acre, look for a lightly used commercial grade mower. You should find lots of options for under 5K.
I bought a used 2005 SnapperPro 48" with 175 hours in 2011 for $1800. Has 735 hours today, and has been flawless. I plan to sell it at the end of this season, and expect to get $1K. I just bought a larger used one.

I have one also, been mowing 2 acres with it for 8 years now. Besides changing oil, filter and blades only thing had to do was change one belt.

Skag mowers are expensive but I’ve heard a lot of good things about them. You may can find a used one with low hours.

sorry for the bump, but was just about to start this same thread.
I have the limited version and its just not doing what i expected it to do. I would definitely not try 6 acres with it, or anything of that variety for that matter.
I FRIED my clutch a few months back in semi long cutting conditions. not wet.
Does anyone know anything about Worldlawn mowers? Seems like a good value.
ETA - Regarding used commercial mowers, is that and Hour limit you would stay away from? 400-500 range okay?

Gravely HD, with either the Kawasaki or the Kohler. End of story game over.

mowing that much I would be sure I got a mower with a welded deck---most of those are thicker than stamped decks.
I have 42 inch hustler for my 1 acre yard because I have lots of stuff to mow around. Big, open yard I would go 54 inch.

6 acres and with your budget buy a good used commercial mower! U can get pretty good used commercial ZTR for about $4000. Check with a local dealer who takes trade in? That way you know they went through it and checked it over.

EXMARK fan here. lower end of the commercial line. new would surpass 5K though. But if you find a good condition used Dixie Chopper or Scag, don't hesitate
