Got a BIG one in the ground in the doorway of my barn. There must be two or three hundred little holes where they are coming in and going out. Can't get my tractor out or in the barn because they get highly offended when I run over those holes. And yes, bumblebees will follow you for a little way when they're pi$$ed off at somebody for running over their house. Can't burn em out there at the barn, sure ain't gonna dig em out. Those little ninja bumblebees mean business when they leave their fort and get after you. And they are considerable faster than a Massey-Ferguson tractor. Help! TIA!

Dump gas in hole. You don't have to light it, it will still kill em.

This is what we did. Could still ignite it as well.

Have that guy on Youtube from the abbey on the north shore come get 'em, he'll do it for free. Look up Jeff Horchoff bees. Also a great way to combat insomnia is watching those videos. They're mesmerizing.

For sure.

We had this same issue twice. 1 in the ground in what appeared to have been an old armadillo hole; the other inside a tree trunk.

The one below ground we waited until dark; my dad then used a bucket to quickly dump the gas into the hole. I was standing a few feet away with a straw broom lit on fire. As soon as he dumped the bucket I threw the broom right on the hole.

We wore clothing to help protect us if any were to come out or burns.....but none did.
Next day we filled in hole and never had another issue.

There ain't just one hole. There's at least a hundred little holes where they're coming in and out. This nest is about 3 feed wide and 2 feet apart from top to bottom.

my idea with the bush hog is the prime way of handling that.

This happened to me last summer. Mowed over a nest and got popped 13 times on and around my neck. A Kubota tractor ain't quite fast enough to get away from them. I waited until dusk, took a 5 gallon bucket 1/2 full of diesel, poured it down the hole and left the bucket on top.

Seven Dust.

You can blow it down the holes with a air compressor.
