Is it Leupold and then everyone else? They have a lifetime warranty right?

Best is relative. Ignoring all price Swarovski z8. When price is a concern meopta is pretty awesome

Schmidt & Bender, US Optics, NightForce, Swarovski...you can spend thousands on any one of their glass tubes.

Zeiss HD5, Swarovski Z3, Meopta Meostar, Leupold VX6 are all good mid range glass around $1000-$1,300. Leupold is great glass for the money if you are looking in the $450 to $700 range for a VX3 type glass.
The dude above me named some of the best and you can buy but run cost upwards of 4K for a scope.

Just never, ever look through a scope that is out of your price range and you won't know what you are missing and will be happy with what you have

S&B, Swarovski, Nightforce, US Optics, if money is no object. I would probably take a Z8 over anything right now, will grab one soon.
Meopta Meostar is you want to stay in the 1200-1500 range
Meopta Meopro if you want to stay below 1000

Depends on what you want. Some brands dont focus on hunting scopes, some brands don't focus on tactical scopes.
For example, the vortex gen 2 razor 4.5-27 is an exceptional piece of glass. However, it weighs like 2 pounds and while not a bad choice for hunting there are a crap ton of other scopes that are much lighter in weight that are more suited to hunting.

Zeiss, hands down , I own 6 of them and they are unbelievable

You are right about that. My Nikon Monarchs haven't failed me yet

I'd take my trijicon accupoint over a leupold or meopta any day.

Correct. I had Nikon Monrachs on every rifle I own until I looked through a Meopta Meostar 3-12x56 at low light. That scope started it all and I have since purchased a Zeiss HD5, VX6, VX7, and a night force. I still have all my Monarchs but they sit on my lower end rifles and are still the best glass for that amount of money.

As long as it isnt the Terra or Conquest (old conquest when they had the MCs). I used to have a Conquest but sold it because of the lack of eye-relief.

This is a question for IGChris. I have never used one but I have heard from several people who shoot long range competitions that it offers a ton for its price range. If you can get it for $750, I would absolutely say to get it.

It's a good scope -- decent glass and very solid construction, but heavy. I'd get a Meopta in that range though

No love for vortex? I'm a novice but hear they are pretty good.

Can't say much for long range/target type shooting, but for typical hunting situations I've got love for the Vortex glass. Really nice for the money and awesome warranty/customer service.

I'll chime in. I recently got the 3-15x50 version of the XTR II. Absolutely love it. The glass is very good...but not Swaro good. Put it on top of my AR-10. The thing is built like a tank and equally as heavy.
Adjustments are straightforward, but pay attention to the fact that there are 2 screws to loosen the turrets after zeroing. The FFP feature is my new obsession.
From my understanding, Burris bought Steiner or vice versa, and these scopes are a product of that marriage. Haven't shot in low light yet, but I've scoped out the neighborhood at "questionably legal" shooting times, and it appears to transmit more light than the Leupold VXR (30mm tube)I have and the old Zeiss Conquest (1" tube) I have (believe it was built by Meopta?).

Since joining beretta defense group some years ago along with Steiner, their optical systems have improved drastically. Personally I prefer them over the PST from Vortex because of product consistency, optical quality, zero stop that isn't a shim kit, and mag range offerings. I think the market agrees based on the overwhelming amount of backorders Burris is working through. With that being said, the PST is getting a facelift and I have yet to get hands on a production scope. They obviously were feeling the pressure from Burris to do something.
Any more input on the 1-5x24 model? Is it a true 1x? And any downsides that you'd care to point out?
I'm in the market for a 1x and the Viper PST is where everyone seems to be pointing, I'm open to other options though
