Anywhere far away from ville Platte. They hate squirrels so much that I doubt there's one left anywhere around.

The best squirrel hunting is behind my old man's house and that's my spot so stay away.

the locals there are also known to tamper with your vehicle if you are hunting "their spot"

Pearl River WMA is nice. Swampy so you have to walk for good spots but they have grey squirrels and those big red ones with the sometimes black color phase.

Well, if you know this you shouldn't be in their spot.

My parents property.

Specifically this one flat that holds several large white oaks.

I've stood in one spot and limited out within an hour with a .22 on many occasions.

Public land. They should get there earlier.

Anywhere around Ville Platte has squirrels, but those people have a damned vendetta against the common tree rat and will get downright feisty if they think you're encroaching on "their" hunting. They have a de facto holiday for the opening day of squirrel season. The whole place pretty much shuts down.

Really, anywhere with plenty of trees is going to have those things in pretty good numbers.

If you are looking for somewhere a little more rural, try Lafreniere Park.
