I'm in a CWD exclusion zone in central MS (no yellow acorns, rice bran, etc.), what are some tried and true deer attractants? I've heard everything from grape cool aid powder, to peanut butter to dripping syrup.

Why not just scout and hunt what they're naturally feeding on? Acorns, soft mast, etc.

Because people don’t like to actually hunt these days. Too much work involved in all of that. Most people would never kill deer if they actually had to hunt for them.

What does this mean? Since the beginning of time, humans have used their brains in order to hunt animals that are physically superior to them.

I mean, hiding in a tree, camo made from machines, machine made scent sprays, mother freaking rifles, etc etc is all "cheating"

But let that big dick swing with your modern rifle and $500 scope while you "hunt" podnuh

Don’t forget the cameras that help make sure all of your efforts are not in vain!

Mostly pasture land, not much in the way of trees or woods. Woods (that I don't own) do surround it though.

Maybe he hunts on land like I do, where they’ve done so much logging that most natural food doesn’t exist.

It means I don’t consider putting out hundreds of pounds of feed and sitting in a box stand over that pile of feed to be hunting. There’s 0 skill involved in that. Yeah I use modern camo and SOMETIMES a modern rifle but the majority of the time I use a bow or crossbow. I actually have to find deer trails and bedding and patterns. No I’m not running around with broadheads made from rock, but at least I’m not glued to my phone waiting for my cellular camera to send me a picture so I can choose which box stand I’m sitting in the next day.

If in a CWD zone, aren’t all those prohibited?

supplemental feeding is banned within any CWD Management Zone.

That’s from the mdwf page, not trying to be a dick but it states mineral or salt licks as well. I read it as anything you were to put out is illegal.
Is there no chance for you to plant some sort of food plot? Even a 1/4-1/2ac of throw and grow will be batter than nothing if the area does not have any other feed trees or crops.

That’s really not true. I put out several salt licks near food plots and some near feeders with cameras. Maybe 2-3 deer visited each one in a 1 year period. May be better where you live but not universal.

Hey I have 2 box blinds overlooking corn piles and standing beans. My son will shoot a crossbow off a rest out of both. Both exist because my 5 year old wants to start hunting as well.

Thursday I head to a 10000 acre wilderness area in a 1.8 million acre national forest where we will hunt over a mile back on deer that have never seen corn or a game camera. Last year I killed more there than on the 1500 acre ag farm.

I love both places differently, there is nothing wrong with either. Quit worrying about how others hunt and do what makes you happy.

Probably because a lot of people hide behind the internet to seem like they’re badasses. I’m not afraid to admit that I use modern day weapons to kill deer. Look at most in stand threads and you’ll see that I shoot a Ravin crossbow. I also shoot a pse x force. I‘d bet I’ve killed more deer with my compound than most have killed with a bow. I’ve hunted public since I was 13 years old. Which is probably the reason that I feel that box stand sitting over a corn pile/feeder isn’t really hunting. I got a lot of down votes for saying it but that’s only because most people these days do exactly that.
