I currently have a Sitka outfit and rocking banded waders. Just wondering what everyone else is wearing.

Anyone worn First Lite?

I bought a bunch of Badlands when it was 50% off. Not sure if it’s better than some of the top brands but it works well for me and the price was good.

Not sure I would pay full price for any of that stuff.

Best? I dunno but I have a good bit of cabelas That have held up well over the years .

I wish first lite and all the those type would make better patterns that are in line with mossy oak . I just can’t seem to make myself buy any of that and think I’m hiding from a gobbler, it just doesn’t represent the landscape I hunt

I like Sitka. I’m not under the illusion that wearing a Sitka baselayer in 30° weather will keep me warm though. I have a lot of their stuff that I layer properly depending on weather conditions. I hunt mostly Louisiana but make a trip to Missouri and Oklahoma most years. It’s kept me warm down into the teens duck hunting Oklahoma but I also have light weight stuff for bow hunting October.
I have friends in Minnesota and Wisconsin that hate on Sitka, but love kuiu and they have more experience in the frigid cold than I do. Just depends on what you’re looking for specifically I guess.

My clothes are a mixture of Wal Mart, Academy, Habit, and the Realtree store.
I bought some years ago at the Mossy Oak outlet in Foley, Alabama. But most of that is in the retirement closet along with the 1990’s camo. It just plain does not work- blobs.

I have one custom very cold weather jacket tailor made by Gray Wolf Woolens, in Predator Fall Brown.

I just got the 4 in one parka with removable liner in Mossy Oak elements Terra. This is the one advertised for 80 dollars on wal mart online. I got it from Habit. Very nice. The pattern works especially in a stand with some blue sky behind you.

I have no high dollar clothes, other than the Gray Wolf Woolens jacket

This. I am just as warm and cozy as the guys who want to look spiffy, and I have ample success in my hunting endeavors.

To each his own.

Depends. Hunting louisiana in a box stand vs hunting out in the open in Montana are two totally different deals.

My first year in Montana it was -2 when we got there. I had all my Louisiana box stand Camo on. Looked like the stay puff mash mellow man. Then I started sweating my arse off when we hiked a couple miles. Then we sat and glassed and I froze to death bc I was wet with sweat. My buddy had 3 layers of Kuiu on. He looked like he was barely wearing clothes. He stayed comfortable during the hike. Warm while we glassed and didn’t almost catch hypothermia.

I know but kuiu used from places like rokslide. The technology is amazing. It wicks water away and breathes. It layers like nothing I’ve used before. With that being said, any of the high end stuff like Sitka or first lite will do the same.

I’ve got a bunch of Sitka, Kuiu and Under Armour. Sitka’s my favorite.

Kuiu is gonna be at the Sportsman's show in Gonzales this weekend if you have any interest in some higher end gear. This is the first I've heard them coming around here

I like FirstLite and Sitka. I buy on sale or with my brothers military discount.

Like others said, I don’t spend money unless it’s for backcountry

Sitka is comfortable - with that said, wouldn’t by without some sort of discount.

All camo is over priced IMO

Responses will be funny. Pay for the base layer.. first lite is all i can speak for love it. Outer, really dont matter. I have used it all. I wear and order 90% of my stuff now from mossy oak store online. Not near as expensive, comfortable, bunch of diff weights and camo

Case in point; we all have different opinions as my Kuiu wool is definitely not warmer than Firstlite wool layers.

Kuiu has a great DCS Guide jacket but they’re sizes run small…not Louisiana boy size.

It’s like a woman looking for shoes when it comes to dudes in camo…a collection forms chasing the holy grail.

No purpose for Sitka in the Southeast unless making multiple trips up North. I just don’t see spending that kind of money without a big discount for already overpriced camouflage regardless of brand. I’ll do a SD pheasant hunt every other year but with the walking I’ve done just fine in my clothes for down here and add a layer if needed. I do like some of the Banded stuff however. For waders I’ve got two pairs of Gator Waders in Realtree Timber and Max-5. I generally try to stick with anything Realtree with them being Ole Miss people/boosters and their patterns

I have several pieces of first lite ( base layers of various weights, pants , pullover fleece) and I really like them and will buy more pieces.
I am not a camo snob and wear carhartt pants most of the time in conjunction with some cabelas wooltimate pants and parka.
First lite base layer are well thought out and worth the money 3/4 zip you can zip to you belly button to dump heat and full leg zippers so I can pull bottoms off when it warms up at 10am and thumb loops are game changers.
17deg temps and everyone else is bundled up like the Michelin man or running heaters and I’m not bundled up or wearing just a base layer and light fleece at 30 and being able to draw a bow is where they are worth the money.
I have been wearing mine for two years now and prolly average 30-60 hunts a year and they are all in great condition I would imagine I’ll get 5-10 yrs use out of them.

It all depends on your hunting situation. I wear the same Carhartt shirt and pants 99% of the time, and have been for the past 12-15 years. Add a zip up windproof fleece or rain jacket, as needed. Don't over complicate it.
