Best fixed blade camping/survival knife

What brands and models of fixed blade camping/survival knives do you guys recommend. I understand they can get really pricey so less than $200 would be ideal.

I personally like the SOG seal pup. damn nice knife that looks good and with a number of different cutting surfaces. it is functional as hell. Sharpest knife I have ever seen when new.
the only negative I find is that the handles are made of a slightly harder material than I would like and can make your hands sore if you are doing something like a lot of chopping with them. check out the Walmart website to see the best prices.

There's no need to spend that much for a quality survival knife. I'm a survival instructor and I carry a $30 knife. It's a Schrade SCHF52 Frontier. You just need a full tang, no serrations knife and you're in business. A thick blade is good if you're looking to split wood with it. I'll admit I have several survival knives but I use this one the most.
Also, if you're looking for fire craft items, look at the EricX Light 1/2 inch by 6inch ferrocium metal match. I own four. They are excellent fire starters.

I carry a custom LTWK full tang knife on every trip. It's designed in the same style as their GNS Saber model. They make extremely high quality knives designed for people who spend a lot of time in the woods. Check them out.

OP do you have a really nice folding every day carry type of knife? Folding knives have come a long way, and really that should be your first buy imo. Personally I'd buy a $150 folder/ carry knife and then as said buy a $25-50 fixed. Fixed are a pita to carry around compared to a really nice folding knife and this is from a guy that was pro fixed up until I got a nice benchmade folder.
So what I'm saying is that if you have $200 I'd spend the majority on a nice folder and then get a cheaper fixed.

Thank you for the advice. I don't want to spend that much and I am very glad to see this reply. You say you're a survival instructor, what type of classes do you put on and how could I look at taking one?

I carry the kershaw blackout folding knife as well as I have a 3.5" buck folding knife don't know the model. This is just something I recently have been intrigued by and wanted some outside opinions other than outdoors/survival websites. They seem to say the same 7+ As the best in all the lists I've seen with different knives being recommended toward the lower end.
I'm not looking to drop $200 but just didn't want to have an extremely low budget and possibly miss out on "the best" knife. Thanks for all the informative replies

The only folder I've ever owned (and even touched) that I'd be comfortable using as a camp knife is one from Zero Tolerance.
