I’ve downed many of waterfowl with my Winchester SX2 with 3in 3 shot.

Find a shotgun you’re comfortable shouldering and swinging first. Load should me a considered second thought once you know the territory and region you’ll be hunting. Flooded timber? Rice fields?

I’m told I the only thing that’ll kill waterfowl is the most expensive production benelli or beretta with black cloud or other premium duck load.

Remington 3” #4 for me. They’re dirty but I have confidence when i shoot them

Remington Model 29 pump with Winchester's 2 3/4" "All New" Mark 5 Plastic shot shells with 1 1/4 oz #4 lead. Course it's been a few years since I have shot any ducks.

I dont find it really matters very much. Not that I shoot a whole lot of ducks. A story I like to tell is years ago i was hunting Catahoula with a boat load of guys with my busted arse 870 and a zip lock bag of random 2-3/4" steel shells, mostly federal #4's. We had a good day, I had a really good day hanging off the back of the boat on cleanup duty. I was shooting really good that day. A duck came crossing the back hauling arse from another blind at about 40 yards and I poleaxed it. The guy who we were all with, who hunts every day basically, goes "dude, you mash ducks"

Moral of the story, the gun and shells don't matter much. Hit them in the head and they die.

These days I use a benelli ultralight with 2-3/4" regular federal #4's or #2s. Never cared for the shoulder abuse from 3" shells. Idk how some of yall blast 3-1/2's for days and days on end

Down you are rt - its the Indian not the arrow that makes the diff. proper lead, keep the gun moving and reasonable shells always work

The lack of posters admitting they shoot 3-1/2" shells is disturbing.

I know that of the guys I occasionally hunt with, 3 of the 6 are always shooting 3.5's, 2 shoot 3's mostly, and I'm the only one that shoots 2-3/4 all the time. They teal hunt with those big frickin roman candles. I dont get it, that shite sucks. They've GOT to have shoulder damage

If I can help it, that's all I shoot.
