May not be the best for under 150.00 but I'd argue it's the best 100.00 reel made.

Shimano SLX is pretty damn strong in that $99 slot, they really stepped up their game where they used to just mail it in. Thing is light as hell, compact, and really smooth.

Not shitting on the other brands, bc I know they made good reels. I’ve tried all of them. However, I stick with Shimano. I know down the line so can get parts for them. They aren’t some flavor of the year reel made in a Korean factory.

Agree here.
If your looking to blow the whole $150 get the Curado K. If your looking for a good reel on a budget, you won’t be disappointed with the SLX.
Both are great reels. I own both fwiw.

Everyone has their personal opinion on this topic. Personally I prefer the Lews Speedspool. I have about 13-15 of them. Model BB1HZ and like models with different gear ratios. Don't remember those model numbers. Retail in stores for $159.99. BUT, go to Ebay and search. You can get the $159.99 models for $115-$120 with no tax charged. I have bought my last 6-7 of them on Ebay for that price brand new. Hope this helps. I am sure you can do the same with other name brands and models.

Unless you're buying Shimano or Daiwa, you're buying from the same two factories anyway.

Any Lew's reel is great. The Tournament MB Speed Spool is favorite. Wife bought me one for fathers day and I loved it so much I went buy 2 more.

Do yourself a favor, save 40 bucks, and get the Shimano SLX.

Used to be able to get the Lew's Tournament Pro's for around 160 on amazon and ebay.

Those Tatulas are nice reels and this is coming from a Lews fanboy.

Based on what proof?

The lack of reel manufacturing by Garcia(other than round reels), Lew's, etc. They all come from one of two Korean builders.

The reels say made in Korea. Made at the Doyo factory. Lew’s, Pfluegar, Abu ect all owned by the same holding group, Pure Fishing. You can google it, it’s all over bass fishing forums as well.
