Benelli SBE II jamming

Anyone have experience with this?
Gun is about 7 years old. Exclusively shot 3.5 inch shells for the first 5 years. Then switched to regular 3 inch. Tried Kent, Drylok, and Remington shells all with the same problem. It jams roughly 1 out of every 5-7 shots.
It seems to be stovepiping the majority of the time. It does this with both the spent shell and the shell it is trying to chamber. Gun is always broken down and cleaned so that is not the issue. Could there be a problem with the spring in the stock?

ETA: Your spring in the stock may be either rusted worn or both. I would take it out and look at it. They make some aftermarket springs, but they are a little to tight and you will run into the same problems. Get a stock spring and if you can find a stainless one go that route.

Owned by the same company. Doesn't help solve the problem.

That's what a SBE does. Jam.

Bullshite. This is impossible.
I kid. Sounds like ejector problems. The only 3-1/2"s mine has ever seen was some turkey loads I shot to break it in. Piss on getting hammered all morning by 3-1/2" shells. 3" #3 BC is all I've ever needed. Mine eats everything I've fed it so far. Even low brass 2-3/4 dove loads. When's the last time you broke it all the way down including buttstock and all?

An ejector should be cheap as hell. If your gun has been shot a whole lot the ejector is probably trashed.

Shotgun extractors don't take as much of a beating as handgun and rifle extractors do since the rim of a shotshell is so big.
I tend to agree with the others that the ejector probably needs to be replaced. In my 870 it's just a small piece of metal but I don't know what it would look like in your SBE. I would assume it's chipped off or something and causing issues.

Exactly why I switched to 3 inch.

It's currently in the shop so I'll see what they say. I've read a good bit online about the recoil spring having some issues but the gun was definitely "broken in" with 3.5 inch shells for a while.

But completely different designs -- gas operated vs. inertia operated.

I got this from Benelli's site
The way to clean Recoil Assembly:
1. Take the gel pad off and take barrel off.
2. Use 13 mm socket with extension to remove the nut.
3. On the other side of the nut is a lock washer and shim, lock plate. Be sure to note how the shims are installed so you can put it back together as you found it.
4. Then you will have the tube (with spring and plunger inside)
5. Liberally use Gun Scrubber to spray inside the tube - Hold the plunger down 1/2 half way and get scrubber inside. Work plunger up and down a bit.
6. The bottom of the recoil tube has a small drain hole. Continue to spray gun scrubber inside the tube until you see the drain has clearer oil coming out. If black, it is not clean yet.
7. Then, place Break free oil or Rem Oil inside the tube and wait until you see a small bit drain out of drain hole. You want the tube to be oiled well.
8. Replace all parts AS THEY WERE....and clean the rest of the gun, barrel, bolt, trigger assembly etc - and good to go.

Sounds like a bad ejector to me.

Thanks for the input. I tried this several months ago but it didn't help.
