HR 5087

Representative David Cicilline of Rhode Island sponsored the bill with 173 Democratic Co-Sponsors. Includes pistols and shotguns. Has a 90 sunset on the private transfer of weapons without an FFL.

Unlawful to possess. That torpedoed their own bill.

The term ‘semiautomatic assault weapon’ means any of the following, regardless of country of manufacture or caliber of ammunition accepted:
“(A) A semiautomatic rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:
“(i) A pistol grip.
“(ii) A forward grip.
“(iii) A folding, telescoping, or detachable stock.
“(iv) A grenade launcher or rocket launcher.
“(v) A barrel shroud.
“(vi) A threaded barrel.
“(B) A semiautomatic rifle that has a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds, except for an attached tubular device designed to accept, and capable of operating only with, .22 caliber rimfire ammunition.
“(C) Any part, combination of parts, component, device, attachment, or accessory that is designed or functions to accelerate the rate of fire of a semiautomatic rifle but not convert the semiautomatic rifle into a machinegun.

“(D) A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:
“(i) A threaded barrel.
“(ii) A second pistol grip.
“(iii) A barrel shroud.
“(iv) The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location outside of the pistol grip.
“(v) A semiautomatic version of an automatic firearm.
“(E) A semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine that has the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.
“(F) A semiautomatic shotgun that has any one of the following:
“(i) A folding, telescoping, or detachable stock.
“(ii) A pistol grip.
“(iii) A fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 5 rounds.
“(iv) The ability to accept a detachable magazine.
“(v) A forward grip.
“(vi) A grenade launcher or rocket launcher.

I want them to bring this to the floor to vote so the citizens can see who the damned idiots in congress really are.

How does a threaded barrel make a gun any more dangerous.

And a semi-auto with a grenade launcher or "ROCKET LAUNCHER? WTF????

Some of us may or may not have a few or more of those guns listed.

This is the reason why republicans laugh at the term "common sense gun control." Anybody with half a brain knows that any concessions what-so-ever will erode into all out expansive bans.

No shite... applies to everyone except state and federal agencies and law enforcement. These mfers love to call everyone a literal Hitler and they're wanting Hitler-esque gun control.

Why are they so concerned with pistol grips?

I haven't done a comparison, side-by-side, but this is clearly the 1994 bill recycled - and, truthfully, what they did back then was pick out guns they wanted to ban from a book of guns (Gun Digest, probably) - these in particular were to target the Tec-9, for example.

They banned all these guns in 1994 based on COSMETIC FEATURES ALONE - and they're trying to do it again. Cosmetic features.

It was a common cosmetic feature of guns they wanted to ban.

Bought a tec 9 right before that was voted on and passed.

I held it for a few months and sold it for like 4 times more than I paid for it.

If I hadn't had a boat accident I'd be nervous.
