Do you eat any of them on those trips?

Don’t do pointers outfitters.

When I went, we all told the staff we wanted to eat some. Every day thereafter we came back to dove breast appetizers after the hunt. They were excellent, but I’m sure if we had not mentioned it it would not have happened.

You eat them in the field, as well as the lodge. Bird boy will have some cleaned and cooking over a makeshift fire withought missing a beat on picking up your birds or getting you shell.
OP I would look at Estancia Los Chanares. Phenomenal experience

Wait...you pay to go on these hunts and generally don't eat the meat? What's the point?

Have you ever shot a dove? It’s fun. You can go there and have 800 funs. Plus the birds are major crop depredators and they taste good

Ammo availability is going to be what its all about right now.
In years prior, the ammo was the biggest cost. I can't imagine what it will be now if you can even get the ammo.

Trek Safari - H&H Outfitters. Trek will set everything up for you, and all you have to do is get to Miami. Not so sure about this year with continuing lockdown going on there.

Thanks to everyone for the responses. I know this year might not happen but I can at least plan/dream.

I’ve got one booked with David Dennies out of Cordoba for early December. Ammo is looking to be $15/box currently and gun rental is $95/day. All in all should be an awesome time. We plan on extending either before or after info Mendoza wine country.
Just FYI, July will be the middle of their winter there.

Yeah Im getting quotes back for $13-14 a box and $70-75/day on gun rental pretty consistently. Your ammo seems right but he might be juking you a bit on the gun rental.
Although I am planning a different time of year if it make a difference in those prices.

10-4 thanks for the heads up. We won this trip through a DU banquet. I’m just excited to go and don’t plan on shooting my shoulder out.
A couple of the guys going with us are going to try and get 1k birds apiece.

Old enough to know better but young enough not to give a shite.

You know, I had always asked myself the same question. I went because I kind of wanted to see what it was all about, but after seeing how
many doves there actually are there I felt totally differently. If people didn’t shoot truckloads of them I’m not sure they could grow any crops at all. Truly insane numbers, and when we were there our host kept apologizing about the “low” bird numbers. It was a really down year apparently, maybe 25% below norm if I recall correctly.

Los Ombues
quote:
Our mixed bag shooting takes place in the province of Entre Rios in a vast area of private ranches located 250 miles northwest of Buenos Aires. Los Ombues is the only hunting lodge in the country where you can shoot ducks, perdiz and high volume doves in the same area without leaving the lodge. Duck shooting in the Entre Rios Province is fast gaining recognition as some of the world’s finest. This gentile farming country has vast areas of ponds and marshes, which are the wintering ground of thousands of South American waterfowl. Shooting is done in blinds over decoys. This region is absolutely magnificent for dove shooting. Waves of birds cross the sky all day long, therefore this program can also be combined with hot- barrelled dove shooting. Driving time from lodge to the shooting fields is approximately 5 to 15 minutes. Sometimes you literally walk right out of the lodge to shoot. Duck shooting or partridge shooting usually takes place in the mornings and the afternoons are typically dove shoots. The ducks are hunted from blinds over decoys and the partridge shooting (perdiz) is done as a supplement of duck shooting in the same area behind pointing dogs in grassy fields or walking-up as preferred.
